DSM 7 - Plex Media Server (1.24.5.5173-7000) breaks "Live TV & DVR"

I restarted PMS again and recreated the issue (the more the merrier) in case it helps.Plex Media Server Logs_2021-11-12_11-03-13.zip (2.9 MB)

@senoj_nai

Do you have your locale (region) initialized on the Syno?

Your logs all look like this:

Please add the following preference to your Preferences.xml:

  1. Install Synology “Text Editor” app
  2. Stop Plex
  3. Open FileStation
  4. Navigate PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server
  5. Right-click Preferences.xml → Open with Text Editor
  6. On the last line, before the closing />,
  7. Add: VaapiDriver="i965"
  8. It will look like: SomePref="Value" VaapiDriver="i965" />
  9. Save the file
  10. Start Plex
  11. Retest

Please let me know if this helps or not.

So the end of the last line is now: logDebug=“0” ScheduledLibraryUpdateInterval=“86400” MergedRecentlyAdded=“1” VaapiDriver=“i965”/>

The video is very stuttery and there is no sync with sound.

What the heck?! I took the setting out and restarted PLex thinking that was all the testing I needed to do but then thought it might help if I continue running with these settings, even though the playback was unwatchable, just in case the logs show something different.
When I re-applied the settings: logDebug=“0” ScheduledLibraryUpdateInterval=“86400” MergedRecentlyAdded=“1” VaapiDriver=“i965”/> and restarted PMS again, the TV is watchable - in sync and everything.

It just aborted again though so the logs are attached.

P.S. All the settings I can see are set to English. Puttying into the NAS shows the locale as:

@senoj_nai

please upload again / fix that link.

You hit reply before it completed (it won’t say attachment when completed)

After you try this… REMOVE the setting.

The reply button is greyed out until the upload has completed so I don’t get how the upload is not working. I waiting a further 10 secs after it told me the update was complete just to make sure.

Yes, I will remote that setting now.

I see 1.25.0.5220-de6e61df7 is now available.
Would you prefer to continue debugging this or shall I upgrade?

Go for it. That should be the new transcoder update.

PlexMediaServer-1.25.0.5220-de6e61df7-x86_64_DSM7.spk installed.
I’m afraid the issue is still with us. Here are the logs:

@senoj_nai

Would you please turn DEBUG logging on again? I can’t see anything.

  • Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced
  • Check the box
  • SAVE
  • Restart PMS and retest

Strange - Debug was set to Verbose. This option is not under Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced but instead under Settings - Debug.
I have turned debug off - save changes - then back to Verbose - save changes and then restarted PMS.

Here’s another fail with Debug set to Enabled rather than Verbose in case it makes any difference

Is there any more information I can provide to help fix this issue?

I’m sorry – I was not notified.

I’m having a heck of a time with this because I don’t have DVR capability here.

Looking through your logs again, I see the sonos devices but I don’t see the tuner.

If you want, we can try an older version of PMS to see if identifying the tuner is what’s broken ?

If you do this:

  1. UNInstall w/ Keep (default) action
  2. Install this older version
  3. Give it another 1-2 minutes to get stabilized at the lower level
  4. Repeat your testing.

It refuses to roll back to the older version.
Would you like me to screen-share?

Ah - option 1 should read Uninstall… gotit.

As suspected, this older release is stable.
Would you like to see any debug logs anyway?

:man_facepalming: Fixed :slight_smile:
