I can confirm that uninstalling Plex and rolling back to release 1.15.8.1198 works. I have not yet tried doing an update to a 1.16 release and seeing if DVR continues to work. I will post again if I have any success with that but I suspect it will break when I do.
Good find
I hope it’s just a bug with version 1.16, and it’s resolved by the next update. Having to uninstall and rollback is going to be a pain with how much the family use Plex now.
Why? You don’t lose anything.
For those that are having issues with a spinner on the channel mappings, I’d be really interested to hear what devices and OS you’re running your server on.
I had issues using two 1.16 versions on Centos7, doing setup from a Mac using safari.
Downgrading to 1.15.8.1198 went through fine. I’ve not tried upgrading from there again yet.
I it matters, I was doing setup for a ‘community supported’ old ‘elegato eyetv for DTT’ single tuner usb device.
My Plex server is on a NVidiaShield, and I’m trying to set up DVR on MacBook Pro. No LiveTV or DVR. Can’T find my HDHomerun in the network.
The only time I have to do it is after work (When it’s being used most, and daily life gets in the way) or on the weekend. I’ll be working the next few weekends, so it’s difficult to find the time. I’m not worried about losing anything, but it’ll take a little time to familiarise myself with how the docker has been setup and whether rolling back like in Windows Server or ubuntu is possible.
I’m running Plex in a Docker on the current version of unRAID at the moment. I had the DVR setup and running fine for quite a while prior to now.
If you’re getting the spinner, some logs would be much appreciated in us getting to the bottom of this, along with what browser you’re using.
I assume you can, but I have a dedicated NUC for PMS. There appears to be many articles on the topic when Google searched.
Getting the same issue where DVR setup getting stuck, trying to setup ICETV xml guide.
Chrome browser, also tried through firefox.
Plex media server is on a synology NAS

I was running version 1.16.1.1291
Downgrading to older version 1.15.1.791 fixed the problem
DVR Setup worked again and the XML file worked as per the guide.
After i got it working on the older version i then updated to the latest version as of this msg 1.16.2.1297 using check for updates in chrome.
The settings stayed and its working well.
I am not sure if 1.16.2.1297 still has a problem with XML file in the DVR setup or if it was fixed but i didn’t see it mentioned in the release notes. At least there is a workaround.
So in NZ it’s working well with XML after a week. Not sure of an XML for AU tho.
This is the download link to the older windows version 1.15.1.791

Here you go DaveBinM, thank you.
Synology - NAS - DS418play
DSM version = 6.2.2-24922 Update 2
Plex for Synology - revision = 1.16.2.1297 -4b7ace214
HDHomerun Quattro Tuner - latest revision of code.
Can also confirm that setting things up on 1.15.8.1198 and then upgrading did the trick. Didn’t lose anything and allowed me to do live tv from my appletvs again.
I tried also downgrade from 1.16 -> 1.15. (Plex server on QNAP)
With 1.15 Live TV works great but after update to 1.16.2 Live TV doesn’t work.
I can see all channels and shows at Guide but when I try wach a show then I get error: Playback error Could not tune channel. And when I try setup Tuner again setup got stuck at last part after press continue… Then there comes that spinning wheel and it stays forever…
Tried with PC (IE, Edge and FF) and Mac (Safari / FF) -> no go.
HI Pundy, Am somewhat new to this Synology setup and Plex, but I am like many stuck with no DVR since we lost the EPG from Plex on the 1st July! Can you advise the process to downgrade the Plex app on the Synology to 1.15.8.1198 as you have done? is it just a matter of removing the app and re-installing? what about all your saved TV shows etc? and I assume you can download the old app version form Plex?? would really like my DVR back again and working via my AppleTV’s again ! thank you.
Hi Niftymac.
I use Centos7 for my Plex Media Server.
Downgrading was done using yum, which is the package manager on Centos.
I don’t know what the deal is with synology. Sorry!
I have the same issue. I tried to use 1.16.2 with Ubuntu but the guide update from my custom xmltv file is stuck at the spinner. I’ve tried using Chrome and Firefox, I’ve tried using the browser from Ubuntu and Windows.
Downgraded to 1.15.1.791 and now it works.
What a stuff up. Not only do I no longer have guide data, but I can’t even use my HDHomerun system with Plex anymore. I guess I’ll have to look at what the modern options are, any hints for where others are going?
Same issue for me on Windows. Got stuck with spinning icon on channel mapping.
Uninstalled, and then installed the older version of Plex, and it then worked:
and then could install ICE TV Guide for NSW Australia, and all worked a treat.
We use Plex a lot for live tv recordings, and almost ditched Plex due to this one…
Suggest you guys should get this resolved pronto before you lose Plex people…
I’m running it on a HP Microserver.
OS: Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
HDHomerun Quattro Tuner
Plex: Version 1.16.2.1297
