English SRT subtitle recognised as Southern Kurdish

Hello,

I try to add a english SRT subtitle to a couple of movies. They are named with either en.sdh or eng.sdh. Still they come out as Southern Kurdish in Plex…?

What am I doing wrong here?

SRT 1
SRT 2

Which agent are you using for that library?

I use Local Media Assets and The Movie Database

The issue is not on all movies however:

If you are using the Movie Database agent then the SDH flag will not work, see: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200471133-adding-local-subtitles-to-your-media/

Note : Support for SDH/CC subtitles requires Plex Media Server v1.20.3.3401 or newer. It also requires you to be using the newer Plex Movie metadata agent and not the older “Plex Movie (Legacy)” agent.

Your screenshot shows a movie that is definitely not matched with that agent as it clearly shows Rotten Tomatoes ratings which you won’t get with the TMDB agent.

If you want to use the SDH flag then you need to be using the “Plex Movie” agent, and make sure you refresh the metadata for those items.

I do not get the Upgrade Matching option when Managing the library. It seems to already be at Plex Movie?

Refresh Metadata of this movie. It should move it over to use the Plex Movie agent.
Verifiy it by looking at the Plex media info XML of that movie. (guid="plex://movie.... means it is using the new agent)

(If it doesn’t, you probably have moved to and fro agents too many times and your library is damaged.)

Ok,
I’ll check. I’ve never changed the agent at all, so I do not fear that…

Seem right to me?

Could you post a little more of it? Particularly the part where the video, audio, and subtitle streams are listed.

Sure

Thanks. Yeah, this is all looking quite ordinary. Nothing stands out as wrong.
Would it be possible to Plex Dance the movie?

Yes, I’ll do that now

The Plex Dance did the trick!

Just check your database for damage, to be on the safe side:

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 5 minutes
  6. fetch log files and attach them here

Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.
https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/

Please see the attached logs.

I did not find any corrupt or malformed in the Plex Media Server.log file
