Even After Secure connections Disabled, No Internet = No Plex (Localhost)

Server Version#: 1.19.2.2737
Player Version#:

I’m not sure what configuration I’m missing, but no internet bricks my PMS on the LOCALHOST. I get the message that PMS cannot be accessed. I’m not sure what that’s the case when I’ve set both my secure connections setting to disabled and a list of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth to be my home LAN. I’ve seen others have this problem and I’m wondering if this issue persists. I’m still wondering as to why Plex doesn’t default as a localhost media server. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Yep… Plex is difficult to use without the internet.
If your goal is to use plex without the net then take a look at this howto.

Simplest answer, it check plex.tv servers for auth…

Thanks for the quick response NewPlaza. I’ve been well aware of the March 2019 article for some time now and used this last year to configure PMS. However, I still find that when the internet isn’t working post the most recent update, my media is not accessible on LOCALHOST and therefore on any LAN player. Would this be captured in the logging? Again, in that very article thread, there are still users who find that even after employing a very long list of options, without online access your local media server is bricked.

Is there additional information I can provide for assistance?

To be perfectly honest, no. Plex was built and tailored to use the internet.
However, you could add your vote to here

Many people want the ability to stream their content without internet and/or remote auth.

Hmmm seems like there have been votes on that going back 5 years. Surprised that option didn’t become more of a priority.
