Same issue here
Since my last post in September 2024 I have:
- Updated to the latest Plex version 1.41.6.9685
- Confirmed that I can browse to opensubtitles.org
- Discovered that https://www.opensubtitles.com (NOT .org) was categorized as âIllegal Softwareâ by my web proxy and blocking web requests
Manually overriding the category of opensubtitles.com appears to permit Plex to once again download subtitles.
Note: For some reason Edge could reach opensubtitles.com even before I implemented the override so ensure you test using two or more browsers.
Hope this helps!
Subs worked just fine yesterday, now suddenly no sub download within Plex seem to work for me. It says: Failed to download subtitle.
Anyone else having same problem suddenly.
Yes I had it yesterday, but now it works!
Ty mate, yeah working here too now.
mine started working, but everything is in French now⊠itâs clearly set to English. Maybe I should set it to French ![]()
Happening for me now too on all clients.
This is happening to me. Unable to download from opensubtitles via plex Apple TV app
Happening to me everywhere as well, no idea how to resolve.
Happening to me too for the past couple of months.
gone again for me too. I get a strange variety of error messages too.
Today itâs âthere was a error fetching subtitlesâ
yesterday it was âsomething has gone wrongâ
day before it was no error.. but not downloading anything either
donât know if itâs plex or whatever service theyâre connecting to for subs.. but this level of unreliability is not really fit for purpose.
Iâm getting âthere was an error fetching subtitlesâ error since the past 3 days.. Whatâs going on?!
Just adding a reply to keep this from closingâŠ.
So, Plex team⊠Still no fix? After years. Is there any indication on what might be causing this?
Hi all,
I was able to fix it on my Nvidia TV Shield Pro.
The steps are not that difficult in the end, but it took some time to figure it out.
My set-up Nvidia Shield TV Pro and Mac.
Read the instructions first and make sure beforehand that youâre able to handle every step. I suppose everyone knows how to use Plex WebApp.
FYI, in my case (and in all fairness, I think that is the most common cause) the database was corrupted. I could see it from the logs.
Do the following in this order:
Stop the Plex Media Server:
- Open the Plex app on your Nvidia Shield TV Pro
- Go to settings: Open the settings at the bottom of your left hand menu.
- Scroll down to your Plex media server setting and Shut down the PMS
Delete the existing database:
- Make your Shield storage sharable via the network:
a. Go to your shield setting
b. > Device Preferences > Storage
c. Enable âTransfer Files over local networkâ - From your Mac or PC connect to your Shield using the credentials provided on your shield
- Navigate to >Android>dta>com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb>Plex Media Server>Plug-in Support>Databases
- Delete or Rename com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
Restart Plex Media Server:
- Open the Plex app on your Nvidia Shield TV Pro
- Go to settings: Open the settings at the bottom of your left hand menu.
- Scroll down to your Plex media server setting and Start the PMS
- Open the Plex Webb App and add your Libraries again.
Your libraries will be reindexed and everything will work fine again.
Hi guys
Iâm also noticing a problem downloading subtitles via Plex on my LG TV. I can search for subtitles, but when I select one it just closes the window and goes back to the list of existing (or none) subs. I donât get an error message with it, it just doesnât download.
Any suggestions? I did a Google AI search and it suggested looking at the agents and making sure the âEnable the OpenSubtitles Agentâ is still set, but I canât even see that as an option in Agents (Legacy) any more.
Very frustrating! At the moment I have to go onto my laptop to Opensubs, download manually and drop it into the media folder, then stop and restart the movie to pick them up!
Thanks
Read the post above yoursâŠ.
Had the same issue on PC. I downloaded the subs I wanted from https://www.opensubtitles.com/ with the beta download then uploaded it. It said the subs were unknown, but they work. I am working on fixing the unknown issue now.
All you have to do is rename the file to add the proper language tag before the file extension.
Thanks, adding en.srt to end of the file fixed that. Now I just need to remove the other ones.
