Yes, I can confirm the sidenote. I thought it was a bit odd that I couldn’t see the tv stream in my Now Playing dashboard. Both Plex and Tautulli.
Looking like a plex/2020-09-22T04:00:00Z android tv problem, to me. The antenna/tv tuner thing turned out to be a red herring. My Roku/plex and HDHR app on android tv play ok. Just the plex live tv on android tv hangs. and it hangs consistently. I don’t know exactly when this started,Uploading: Plex Media Server Logs_2020-09-22_14-56-01.zip…
Mine hangs as well. Both on Nvidia Shield and Android Mobile Client only. On the Nvidia Shield, if I revert back to the old video player, then it works fine and doesnt hang/crash.
All is well!, or better than it was. Sideloaded beta android tv apk file. xiaomi mi box. Playing for nearly an hour, no issues.
This issue also seems to be an issue with the Chromecast receiver app as well.
Haven’t been able to test the Android beta yet, but have the iOS app installed as well.
On iOS I can stream live TV for long periods. As soon as I use the iOS app to cast to a nearby Chromecast, it seems to start a new stream internally (in PMS) and that stream then exhibits the same symptoms as with the Android client, namely “Timing out idle sub with id 167 for session 33756C5B-xxx…” in the logs.
Will post full logs later today, hopefully; wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this issue specific to Chromecast, though.
Are client logs needed? Not sure how I would get client-side logs from the Chromecast side of things…
Updated server and player to latest releases and it is working much better. Thanks!
I have one of the new Chromecast with Google TV built in, and I’m getting a very similar issue and the latest beta client version doesn’t seem to fix mine. More logs available if needed.

Ugh, this new player was working just fine until recently. Here are the logs after it crashing on my Nvidia Shield.
Plex Logs Nvidia Shield.txt (217.0 KB)
Has there been any update to this bug? I’m also getting it - Fire TV Stick 4k
Happy to report yesterday it started working again. I got an update for the apps on other platforms so tried out the fire stick 4K and TV runs again, uninterrupted!
It might be worth noting this only happens on the new player. Reverting to the old player totally fixes the issue on Fire TV Stick 4k
Hi, I have this issue with the Plex Windows client and the web player, but not with the Plex media Player. (last version in may)
Player version: 1.20.0.1406
Server version: Version 1.20.3.3421
Tuners: HDHomerun connect, HDHomerun Extend x2. All latest firmware
But was doing it with all versions since july. Anybody else has the issue with the Plex client?
The error in the logs is:
Oct 10, 2020 14:57:40.838 [12328] WARN - Failed to find consumer lfp95ljevj3i9wkz5yhuhcp2 for session 21ac03ce-aa89-48eb-a302-cbda280df9c1

I was able to narrow this down to my HDHomeRun EXTEND being set to Highest Quality instead of Original Format - I must’ve done that as a troubleshooting step for something else. Once back to Original Format, new player selected, and transcoding turned off I’ve had zero “Failed to Find Consumer error” on my Fire Stick 4k

@nakat0mi,
That also worked for me but I don’t like to have my Extend set to transcode because it turns my 1080 tv shows into 720 and also makes them a bit blurry. I tried your suggestion above to use the “old player” in the Plex settings instead of the “new player” and it works perfectly. I haven’t had any issues since. Thank you for finding that workaround for me.
Bleck - disregard all my previous comments. It’s back, and none of the above fixes it. What a dumpster fire
Spoke too soon. It worked that one day but last night same thing again, live TV playback stops constantly.
Come on Plex. LiveTV is the reason I pay for your product.
@JorisdG I restarted my HDHomeRun and I’ve had it running solidly for over an hour - could you try that?
Obviously, this is a kludge for a Plex issue, but it’s an ok stopgap for me.
I’ve made a cron job to automate restarting it daily
0 9 * * * hdhomerun_config mydeviceidhere set /sys/restart self
I only have this issue on my Firestick 4K (iOS and Windows apps are fine). I’ll restart it and see.
Android TV, Xiaomi Mi Box. Updated Plex Server today. No Change. I can watch any channel, live tv, and predictably it freezes after a few minutes. Roku is ok with plex app. Just Android.2020-10-15T04:00:00Z This has been going on for a week or so now. Haven’t seen a Plex employee? Hello? Looks to me like a bug in the Android Plex app.
As someone earlier suggested re-booting the HDHR, well that didn’t work for me. I tried some “live TV” and sure enough after a few minutes it freezes. Like it always does. (Live TV is worthless on my android box, the Roku is fine.) When I leave plex I get a prompt on the Android TV home screen that the Live TV program is still playing in Plex. So with options open or close, I try open, that just takes me to the Plex home screen. Again if I leave plex it says the live tv session is playing the program that froze. So I choose close. No live TV for me.2020-10-19T04:00:00Z (any Plex guru’s? hello?)
I can confirm that my Plex is still having the same freezing issue on my FireStick 4k when I install the latest version…
Can we have any help from Plex on this?
Just like JorisdG, LiveTV is the reason I bought the Plex Pass, and I have the problem for over a month now…
