Failed to update server shares

so latest updates wiped my sharing prefs for my users
now i can only update the share prefs for like 5 users at one time them wait 30 freaking minutes before being able to edit preferences? And it is not always 5 sometimes 1 user sometimes 2 then it just takes a dump…

what gives plex???

Same issue here. Especially when trying to test a different server configuration. Have to update all the shares each time and it has become a taxing problem with Plex.

Same here. This bug needs fixed

Still happening! Anyone had any word on a fix?

same problem

Same issue here :frowning:

same issues here

Same issue, WTF

I think you’re totally on point, this unfortunately is setup purposely. You can’t re-add your libraries to your shares more than 5 people at a time without waiting 5 minutes in-between (or thereabouts). What a colossal pain in the ass if you ever want to do something crazy like a fresh install or a move PMS to a new piece of hardware.

Moved my server to a new device today which was a pain in itself, but now only 5 of my users can actually use it. How is this still an issue. Y’all brought it up MONTHS ago

Are we the same person - literally just got my server back up after spending way too much time trying to get things migrated over correctly and now I can’t add shares back without waiting between each batch of 5.

I also just realized you can’t run plex as a service and use hardware transcoding - wtf? Why does plex not support running as a service natively anyway? Some of the decisions here are so odd (I should probably move off windows though, so maybe partly my fault).

Same here this is not acceptable for a Life Plex Pass User !!

Same Here… Just changing some library shares when I came across this dumb error “Failed to update server shares.” :expressionless:

Looks like plex is forcing users to wait 10 mins odd between adding 5 users.

Which is fine until Plex borks the DB and i have to add all my friends again…hours later…

Great feature plex.

Hi
i have a similar issue: my Plex looses the shares… and i don’t know why. Re-adding them is a pain and due to the delay topic a double pain.
What the hell is deleting my shares???

Thorsten

According to the log, you have joined someone else’s Plex Home.
This will destroy your own Plex Home.

There is a warning when you accept the invitation to someone else’s Home. Both when you accept per email and per web app. You should carefully read it.

Thanks for your (very fast) feedback.
Thats strange… can you provide me more details?
I didn’t remember joining a home - just invited as a Friend.
Which home? Can i undo/delete my home and re-create it?

Best
Thorsten

Apparently, you already did. Since you currently have all Home users and no ‘Friend’ users. You left the other Home yesterday in the evening.

Sorry - but i didn’t (i also revisited all mails… there was no invite to a Home).
I still see several Home users and several Friends in my list. How to fix the situation?
Remove everything and re-create a home and invite my friends?

Could the issue be caused form a “mirror copy” on a 2nd server (where i prepared a relocation of my Plex server, probably copied the database… it was maybe started by mistake? just guessing).

Or: another guessing: i´ve invited a former friend to my home… seems it accepted the email-address… but the “lost shares” happened already earlier… that’s why i removed the friend and added him (yesterday) to my home to see if this solves the issue…

Anyhow… is there a way to fix my database?

Kind regards
Thorsten

PS: Should we open a separate discussion to not redirect this topic to far?

I am talking about your account, not your server.
There is no way to revert a lost Home.
