I’ve been a Plex user since 2013 and would LOVE to see Plex add TVE. I currently use channels, and have every show i watch record to my server, where i then pass the files through MCEBuddy and rip all the commercials out. Then a script runs and drops that in to my Plex tv folder. It would be amazing to eliminate all of that and have it do it all in Plex.
I currently use my fubo, xfinity, directv, and Locast logins to fill my Channels guide and it’s amazing how well it works. Another UP Vote!
I would go with full Plex Pass immediately if it had TVEverywhere, like Channels Plus does. That would make Plex the best system out there by far. Please consider adding it.
I’ve been a long time Plex user and recently signed up for Lifetime Pass. I’m loving Plex even more now, but I 100% agreed, Live TV DVR needs is TVE, I did try it with Channels DVR and that feature works great, but the app is nowhere near as good as Plex.
Please, bring TVE to Plex, even if it requires a separate proxy app.
Yes PLEASE add this. It would simplify the Plex stack and reduce reliance on cable cards and TV providers.
In my case, we just want to watch/record Hallmark, Disney and Food Network. Otherwise we have no need for cable TV and the $150+/month we pay is crazy but unavoidable at this time.
+1. I’ve been trying out Plex Live TV/DVR. It’s definitely nice but if you want anything that you can’t get OTA then it doesn’t make a lot of sense. If you are paying for a TV everywhere service, you probably get a lot of the OTA channels anyway. It doesn’t make sense to switch back and forth between apps unless there is something on OTA that is a must have that you can’t get with your TV everywhere subscription.
If TV everywhere was added, there wouldn’t be any reason to leave the Plex app and you would get consistent features across all content (I.e. same DVR functionality and consistent UI)
I want something like this to integrate plex with a service like discovery plus. I would go from having youtube TV for $70.00 a month to $4.99 a month along with my Ota TV. For the most part the only thing I would be missing is a few cable channels but 95% of what my family watches. Plex make this happen.
TVE Please. I rarely use PLEX these days because I am on Channels consuming my live TV content. I only hop over to PLEX when I want to watch a movie I own. It would be nice for PLEX to integrate this feature. +1 vote
I would also like TV Everywhere in Plex. I am signing up for Channels Plus today. Plex, please give us some update on your intentions for this feature!
@StoneColdET - I guess we could also modify this to include integration with a local channel steaming service like Locast. Which, by the way, Channels DVR is also prototyping.
Ultimately I think these will both depend on implementation of another feature request.
I would also love to see this feature in Plex. Currently I am using Emby which allows you to install an M3U tuner along with my HDHomerun. So what I do is import ChannelsDVR m3u url into Emby. So I have OTA and Philo in one Emby guide. Emby is great but I do like how far Plex DVR has come. In the beginning it was really slow to change channels but now it seems much better.
Was going to start a thread, but I knew this must have been requested before. So I’m adding my voice here. This is truly a game changer in my book. I have lifetime Plex Pass, but I currently subscribe to Channels DVR $8 a month for that feature. Being able to DVR TV Everywhere channels is a game changer because, besides for your PC or Nas, you don’t need hardware tuners or cable card rentals. Once I discovered this, all I had to do was get login credentials from my family, and I was able to say goodbye to Youtube TV! You don’t even need to leech off family if you can make the program DVR Pluto TV, Locast, etc. Channels DVR already does Locast. So my cost right now is $13 a month. $8 to Channels, and $5 to locast. I’m getting Spectrum and Frontier channels, they can be redundant, but between the two they cover everything I need, then locast for the missing local channels, even though Channels DVR can pull some of those locals from Spectrum. It is awesome! It would be even awesomer if we can do this with Plex. Trading in one bill for another like I was doing paying $65 to YTV is not truly cord cutting. What Channels DVR is allowing us to accomplish is the true spirit of cord cutting! Plex, you can do it too!
