File name correct, Plex id's different season and episode - SOLVED(mostly)

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457

Hi All,

I’m having a puzziling problem. I have Looney Tunes in my library and everything is fine except that there are 2 episodes that Plex is id’ing wrong.

The first is,

Looney Tunes\Season 1982\Looney Tunes - s1982e02 - 1001 Rabbit Tales [1982-11-19] HDTV-720p.mkv

and plex is id’ing it as season 10 episode 1001. Now I can see where it is getting at least part of that info from but I can’t see why it is ignoring the correctly formatted first part of the file name. Screenshot album.

The second one is similar,

Looney Tunes\Season 1963\Looney Tunes - s1963e16 - Transylvania 6-5000 [1963-11-30] SDTV.avi

Plex id’s this one as Season 50 episode 5000, I can again see where it is getting the info it is using but it is, again, ignoring the correctly formatted first part of the file name.

The Looney Tunes folder has 1090 files in it and Plex id’s every other file correctly. There is also, no season 10 or 50 to connect these episodes to.

I know that if I remove the episode name from the file it would work (tested) but 1, I shouldn’t have to do that. And 2, not all my friends use Plex and if I am sharing the files then they need to be correctly named for those who play media without a Plex like manager.

Any help/advice would be appreciated .

This post/thread may or may not help…

Extend the square brackets to enclose everything after the season/episode code.
Looney Tunes\Season 1963\Looney Tunes - s1963e16 - [Transylvania 6-5000 1963-11-30 SDTV].avi

(Only use one pair of square brackets)

Then perform the Plex Dance

Expand your trailing bracket to include everything that’s not that exact file name and try it again.

Looney Tunes - s1982e02 - 1001 Rabbit Tales [1982-11-19 HDTV-720p].mkv
Looney Tunes - s1963e16 - Transylvania 6-5000 [1963-11-30 SDTV].avi

Your filenames and structure are otherwise perfect - congratulations - but there are so many Looney Tunes at TVDB we need to be as perfect as we can be.

Thanks a bunch, this worked!

I tried @JuiceWSA’s suggestion too, as I would rather not have to enclose the episode title as well, but I did have to enclose the whole thing.

To me this shows something is wrong with how the agent parses the file names because this really shouldn’t have been a problem.

You may be right - there are too many dashes in the file name (2 is the normal amount) and apparently Plex isn’t automatically ignoring all after SxxExx. Perhaps there’s a bug afoot.

At least you now know what to look for and how to correct it - for now.
