Fire Stick stops playing live tv every few minutes, exits to guide. ([FFmpeg] [ERROR] [tls @ 0x81b7e740] Error in the pull function.)

Haven’t really noticed anything. Changing audio channel still crashes the whole of Plex meaning some channels can’t be watched as Plex chooses an audio channel with no sound on a couple of stations for me.

Watch from beginning on a recording still in progress still causes a loop.

After a certain amount of time the programme will cause Plex to constantly buffer with the spinning yellow icon and only way to get it working is to come out of Plex and go back in again.

Not much improvement and not much response. Logs provided to all those issues.

@sixones @sa2000 @DaveBinM Here are log files from the latest beta (8.15.0.23698) using the Firestick 4k and PMS docker version 1.22.0.4163. The problem is when I change to a channel the stream will start just fine but it will fail a short time later. When it fails the player sits there with the buffer circle but in the dashboard the session has completely vanished. This does not always happen and it does not happen on roku.

I’d like test a beta version. I’m running the Fire TV Cube in my livingroom and Fire TV 4k’s in the rest of the house.

My cube is running a 8.14.x.xxx version. How and/or where do I get my hands on the beta version APK? I am a lifetime subscriber on Plex.

Latest Betas are located in this thread:

Hi guys, any update on this issue? The latest beta 8.15.0.23770 still has this issue. Which means when Plex wrongly chooses the wrong audio channel there is no way of switching as it just crashes Plex. An update would be good.

We are investigating the issue at the moment, the v8.15 beta with the new Live TV support has been disabled and will only be available in the APK that is on this thread. I’m hoping to find a solution for the v8.16 beta but don’t have anything to share just yet.

Amazing thanks for the update. Hopefully when investigating you manage to get to the problem of a couple of other issues with Live TV as well…

Namely the image not being stretched on recordings which have had the commercial skip being run on them as well as the EPG HD channels not recording and watch from beginning in a current recording not going to the beginning.

Todays beta (v8.15.0.23847) re-enables the new HLS stack for Live TV and fixes the issue with switching audio tracks with Live TV. Should be available shortly via Google Play, or downloadable on the beta release notes.

I mentioned the change above, as its enabled / disabled via a feature flag there was no new beta with the change highlighted. Looking at your logs it appears it wasn’t using the new stack. If the issue still persists can you send me fresh logs from the client and server and I can take a look.

Just to let you know there is a new issue with the full release Plex for Android 8.15.0 on the stable channel.

This appears on the Shield Pro and when navigating either Live TV and DVR after watching a programme going back into the EPG by pressing the up or back button the magnifying search icon at the top would be permanently selected and there is no way of getting to “What’s On” “Guide” or “DVR Schedule” without coming out of the pinned section and going back in again. Pressing left or right does not change the magnifying search icon to change to another selection.

@sixones What version are we spose to be using now? The stable release on the Announcements thread?

@sixones I am still experiencing live tv stop and continuously buffer.

This is still happening on the latest release: 8.15.0.23855

Still having issue when it doesnt buffer that the stream tries to catch back up with itself, usually during commerical breaks, where the sound & video speeds up really fast to try to catch up.

Seems like this was not solved still. I’m willing to provide logs as well as access to my plex server for testing. I just want to have this resolved and I know you are trying but it just seems to still be happening.

I’m just super tired of this issue that has been plaguing all of my android devices going on 6+ months without a proper fix

live tv will magically die and leave the client in a buffer with the circle spinning except the session is completely gone in the dashboard as per the logs i posted above

Also playing media from a library it will eventually say unable to play media and then a black box at the bottom of the screen says item not found. Force killing the app brings it back to working. The app is broken.

Is issue being discussed here in this thread related to problem with live tv stuttering when using new YouTube TV Chromecast device?

Thought I would hop on the shield just to check it out to see how the latest beta was coming along. Couple minutes into watching live TV I got a good laugh and headed back to my Roku. Buffering Chipmunks during commercials :rofl:. Liking the clean interface tweaks!

I don’t have this issue with my shield. Even on the latest beta 8.16 the watch from recording from beginning doesn’t work. Just goes to the “live” position and not the beginning. This once worked, not so long ago.

I know this discussion has been going on for some time now without Plex doing anything. Every time I see a new update I hope for the best but nothing. We’ve even discussed this before.

I can’t even get a reply from Plex admins after posting logs of a few events.

I’ve resorted to using Emby for most things and will probably switch everything over if Plex can’t workout a known issue that’s been obvious for months.
