Hardware Transcoding broken when burning subtitles ApolloLake-based Synology NASes

Thx, this version works for me as well.

Device: DS718+

Transcoding with subs works but 30-90 sec Pixelmess.
DS918+
Back to 16.5.1xx
Now just waiting for a fix

I tried a lot of versions on my DS218+.
Latest beta builds don’t fix the issue, 18.0 does.
Deleting the driver also ā€œworkedā€ but the quality it was spitting out under VAAPI was too poor to be worth using.
Hopefully a future update fixes this so we can have the latest server while not compromising on playback. Currently 18.0 misses out on the plex-web customization elements which means I have to view it through a direct LAN url in my browser instead of app.plex.tv (won’t let me pin sources to the home menu).

Im also having the same problems with my DS918+ I hope there will be a fix soon.

rm "/volume1/@appstore/Plex Media Server/lib/dri/iHD_drv_video.so

This fix is not working anymore? For some reason when i SSH into the NAS using my admin account. I don’t get a response. When i cd volume1/@appstore it shows me the Plex Media Server folder, but it is impossible to cd into it. I’m a noob so it could be my onw fault that its not working. (EDIT) never mind… spaces are not allowed… deleted the file now!

BTW the 3 test installers are also gone?

Hope you guys can fix this soon!

The ā€œfixā€ is to roll back to the Synology package…

I removed this file iHD_drv_video.so and for now it seems te work…

I’m only affraid that the fix never comes :frowning:

Still busted in Public 1.18.4.2171.

DS918+

Any chance we could get a permanent fix until ffmpeg uses an alternate api call and/or intel updates the driver??

(I don’t know enough about the issue, but I believe it isn’t Plex directly)

Never remove file. Rename it. Add ā€œ.SAVEā€ suffix.

You must login as root, the admin can’t delete this file.

Why? This file is not important in an broken version. When you need this file, you can install PMS again.

I bit the bullet on HW transcoding after fixing my anime/anime movies name issues. I share my library of tv and movies with family. When I tried using the HW transcode it hung for a little while and showed the garbled mess. SSH was a pain as it kept denying accesses but after a post that showed how to do it as a task, it worked with the old fallback driver.

Seeing this has been a long running issue, any random guesses on a ETA for a stable updated driver version? I rather like not slamming the CPU for when we both happen to be watching something.

Standard ā– ā– ā– ā– -retentive system admin process. I did the same.

It is generally easier to rename a file than to re-install an entire software package. May not make much difference in this instance. However, when updating software on on corporate Linux systems it saved my bacon more than once.

login as: user
user@host's password: <User Password>
user@host:~$ sudo -i
Password: <Admin Password>
root@host:~# cd "/var/packages/Plex Media Server/target/lib/dri"
root@host:/var/packages/Plex Media Server/target/lib/dri# mv iHD_drv_video.so iHD_drv_video.so.bak
root@host:/var/packages/Plex Media Server/target/lib/dri# ls iHD*
iHD_drv_video.so.bak
root@host:/var/packages/Plex Media Server/target/lib/dri#

Then restart PMS.

Plex on a Qnap TS453Be just showed this for download. I installed it but still have the problem with the subtitles scrambling the picture.

PlexMediaServer-1.18.4.2171

Is this still being worked on? It’s been 2+ months… are all of these users expected to perform this SSH operation for every update of PMS?

Can you guys try this version at the link above? v1.18.4.2155 so far it’s working for me under Synology D1019+.

It says ā€œfile not found.ā€

Not working on my device DS718+

The preview builds have a 14-day lifetime. I’ll work on getting an updated build later day. I am still working one this issue with our transcoder engineer.
