How can I get Roku's Plex Player to play videos from the beginning rather then at the end where I left off?

I’ve had this odd issue with the plex player on Roku. Seems that whenever I go to rewatch videos they all start towards the end or at the end rather then starting from the beginning. Its odd as the plex player on my Shield plays properly, as does the player on android. I looked for a setting to stop the player from remembering media location but did not see anything. Is there a way to stop this behavior with the Roku plex app? Its pretty annoying trying to rewatch a series when every episode starts at the end.

If you stop before Plex thinks you have finished - they would like for you to continue.

There is no setting for this that I am aware of - it just happens - differently - apparently.

Note if you have a ‘progress bar’ when you quit - if so, mark as watched.

Yeah I would mark as watched but I’ve had an issue with my server for awhile and it gives me an unexpected error when I try to mark anything played or not. I have not tackled that issue yet since from my research it entails a lot of work with a corrupt database or something. I was hoping there was a way to make the Roku Plex app act like the other players when replaying media that’s already been watched. I can watch half of every episode in a series on Shield and go back, hit shuffle, and it’ll start everyone at the beginning. Not Roku’s plex app, haha. Might just have to get another Shield to get around this issue.

Oh… well - there’s a problem.

That’s been a issue for like a year and has not caused any adverse effects that made me need to fix it yet. Unfortunately, I’ll probably have to factory reset my server to fix that issue which is why I’ve procrastinated. One of the downfalls of having your server on a Shield.
But I just got Roku and this new behavior stumped me as its only the Roku plex app that does this. So I seriously don’t think its related. I even created a new profile to give my series a fresh start to get them to play normally from the beginning. Which works until I finish them again, then they start back at the end of every show, even with a second left. Its odd.

have you tried @ Plex Web to check/manage your videos watch status?

you can see if there are any error messages in the log

Plex Web > settings > console (near bottom left)

if you see any lines that say ‘malformed database’ or similar, then yeah you might be having a problem that may or may not be recoverable.

You have some underlying issues that need to be addressed with some elevated support - and right now you don’t know what you have to do.

If you want to ‘Start Over’, by all means do so, which might not be a bad idea, and if you do, make sure you do it right this time.

If you want to wait for elevated support - do that.

Yes, I tried to manage videos from my plex.tv and it gives me an unexpected error. And also, in the console I get database corruption on two lines. Is there a way to recover a corrupt database on Nvidia Shield? I have searched all over but have not found any solutions other then a reset. Such as here: PMS on Nvidia Shield- damaged database repair
And in Plex help, the guides to recover a corrupt database are only for Linux, Windows, and Mac.
