I am not sure what is going on with my Plex media sever

What libraries is PMS aware of?

Music TV Shows Wrestling Movies I think

When you edit say the Movies library (⋮ ⇒ Manage Library ⇒ Edit…) and select Add Folders, what exactly do you see as the location of your Movies?

Well for some reason it’s not finding the folder that has my media it’s on the desktop home screen and Plex will not let me access the desktop for some reason

Under Add Folders, when you click Browse for Media Folder, what can you see?

I see everything accept for my folder called Media

Please provide a screenshot of the Browse for Media Folder window.

I fixed the problem with the media I moved it from the desktop to the C drive and now it’s scanning my media again and then there is still the problem with the remote access and I don’t know how to fix that

How do you fix the remote access problem because nothing listed here as worked at all to fix this problem

Does anybody know how to fix the remote access problem in here

Still need help with Remote access and I don’t know what to do to fix it and not really know what to do either because not many people have gave me ideas that actually work

Looking back through the thread, it seems that your remote access connection is green for a few seconds and then it turns red, correct? And you’ve verified that it definitely does not work outside of your home network, yes? I see you had another problem with your media but you sorted that out. Is everything else in Plex now working except for remote access? Also, do you have Comcast as your internet provider?

Yes I have Comcast as my service provider because they are the best internet service provider in my area

First, check this solution that worked for me when my remote access wouldn’t work. There was something called Xfi Advanced Security enabled on my internet, had no idea what it was or that it even existed. It was identifying every attempt to access my Plex server as a threat. Do these steps:

  1. Go to https://my.xfinity.com and sign in
  2. Click on Xfinity Xfi at the top right (the wifi icon)
  3. Go to “More” at the top right
  4. Click on “My Services”
  5. If Xfi Advanced Security is enabled, disable it. You may see a warning somewhere along the way that Comcast has detected multiple threats. These are the attempts to access Plex
  6. Restart your server. Mine worked without restarting but it’s a good idea to do it anyway

If this was the problem, you should be able to access it away from your home now. Let me know if it worked.

Well I clicked on the Xfinity Xfi and it says I have to upgrade for that and I don’t see more either on this page

Still need help with this issue because so far nothing is fixing this issue at all

What should the manually specify public port be also and I still have no access yet and I cannot access my own content on the Fire TV or the PS4

I’ve been trying to figure my problem not being able to access my server from the very computer that it resides on, but still being able to access it from mobile devices for the last couple weeks. It looks like you just solved it for me. Many thanks!!

No problem, glad to help!

The “manually specify public port” should be 32400. But if you can’t access your own content at home, you have a different problem going on since remote access has nothing to do with that. I would suggest first making sure that you have Plex set up correctly by going to the setup page linked below.
