i added a roku upstairs to the plex because i change the router to extend my wifi range out to the shop and my shop has an upstairs living space so i had to setup the roku with the new wifi then I went ahead and setup the plex well i couldn’t remember the password so did a reset so login upstairs and noticed the NAS drive had triangle next to it didn’t think much about it came back down stairs and opened the plex on my ipad and i had the same thing i’ve been hacking at it for 4 hours and i can’t figure out how to get the NAS drive back so uninstalled PMS and reinstalled it now the NAS drive is completely gone no biggy just start over installing my media so go to add library and i don’t have that options it wants me to DL PMS it’s all ready on the NAS drive it’s running, here the interesting part so i thought maybe it was going to the web plex so look up at the HTML bar and it shows that i’m in the NAS drive because the IP address is correct one BUT i still have no way of adding the NAS drive or add library any help would be appreciated
When opting to sign-out all devices while changing your account password, this will also sign-out (unclaim) your server. To reclaim it you’ll need to access the server using its local IP address from within the same subnet… then, open Settings > [Server Name] > General and sign the server back into your account.
ok i’m lost i type in the IP address and it starts the TOS on the NAS Drive go to PMS and no change i can get into the drive all day long using the IP address now I’m going through a WiFi connection on LapTop in the living room and the NAS drive is in the other room I never see Server Name under settings am I doing something wrong??
No MORE pin no + ADD pin nothing no way to mount a NAS drive there has to be a simpler way of getting the NAS drive back in to Plex this is ridiculous I thought about slapping 2 more 8TB drives in and see if it would give the + ADD NAS drive back BUT at this point I’m about to give up and move on and find something less complicated like FE file explore easier than this and it doesn’t need all the hoops to jump through to work So any other suggestions before I move on and leave this PLEX behind. I have now played with this thing for over 7 hours and still can’t figure out what’s going on.
Are you accessing the NAS/PMS from within the same network/subnet?
When you open https://192.168.1.142:32400/identity in your browser, you should get to some XML message; does that message show claimed=„1“ or claimed=„0“?
That’ll very much depend on your home network setup and router model/configuration. Some routers assign wires/wireless connections to different network segments. Your notebook might be assigned to a separate network (guest network maybe) or VLAN/subnet…
When you open your router’s admin page — what local IP do you see assigned to your laptop‘s WIFI?
192.168.1.107 is my Laptop assignment router model is an 8 port Linksys that’s about 3 years old
so let me ask is there a way to restore to default erase to start over all the data is still on the NAS Drive’s i just need to get PLEX back up and running before I go on Vacation because I watch my favorite programs on my plex while i’m on VC that’s was my main source of entertainment while on VC Thank You for all the help!!!
There is but I’m not sure if this is going to help you.
Your issue seems to be that Plex considers your attempts to access the bundled web app to happen from a different „location“. Therefore, despite being unclaimed, it’s not letting you access the server content/settings itself (unless you actively wiped your server, that should all still be there).
Resetting the server won’t necessarily change that predicament.
You mentioned in your first post that this started when you „changed your router to expand the WIFI“.
Would you mind sharing some more details about your home network setup / configuration?
Sorry Tom I’ve been busy remodeling the bathroom it has priority over anything else. I have to come to work to get free time.
So what I did was make or I thought I was making an access point with a Linksys router for upstairs above my shop for the nephew he’s taking trade school classes over the internet and the previous D-Link router I just kinda threw it up there just for a wireless access 5 or 6 years ago and he was telling me it wasn’t fast enough so had him do wired and wireless speed test and he was getting maybe 5mps which slower than dirt so I programmed this Linksys to be kinda an extended wireless access point or I thought I would. So hooked it up and WOW he was getting 100mps much better than the 5mps so he was happy. Now in the house I get 300mps though wired/wireless but he happy with a 100mps so im good. Here’s were things went south. Since I was up there making sure we’re good and working right I went ahead and reassigned the Roku and other stuff and when I tried to sign into Plex it gave me you need to sign in through Roku it didn’t make since to me I was use to the gives a code and a link to go to. It didn’t it wanted me to sign in and for the life of me I couldn’t remember the password like everybody else so I did a reset and that when everything started messing up. So since then I have taken the Linksys down reconfigured the old D-Link to be an access point with a different SSID and Password. I thought maybe the Linksys and Plex NAS where on the same IP address BUT they’re not. So you got me what happened. I Appreciate the time and the help!!!
Well I have racked my brain for over a week on this I can’t see my TerraMaster F2-210 PLEX NAS drive I lost due to a password reset trying to added a Roku upstairs and this is where I’m at nowhere nobody can seam to help me. I rack my brain over all over the support forum and nobody seams to have a fix the sad thing I can’t even email PLEX support because it bounces you right back to the support forum wonderful this isn’t fixing my issue Does anybody have a short and easy fix other than throw PLEX out the window and move on.
Spectrum Cable into their Cable Modem from there to a Linksys 8 port WiFi router the Terramaster NAS is wired directly to the Linksys Router
The Linksys is the only router i have everything goes through it
I’m using a Predator Helios 18 Laptop and WiFi into the Linksys router I can IP into the NAS drive directly and bring up the TOS
Now i don’t know if this may help BUT i had a WiFi extention Router for upstairs it was using the same WiFi SSID and same Password now that you mentioned it I’m wondering if that where it went haywired because i logged into Plex through a different router caused the hiccup which I kinda figure that’s what happened BUT how do you just get the Plex to let go of the that IP address and reclaim the NAS drive Since this happened I’ve taken the upstairs router out of the picture and put the old one back another words put the system back the way it was before all this started
If you have any more question PLEASE FEEL FREE to ASK i appreciate any help i can get i’m just stumped and been racking my brain over this
Do you receive the same response as earlier, that the server is unclaimed?
Login to the Plex Server
Using a private/incognito browser window, go to http://192.168.1.142:32400/web (use http, not https). You may see a “this site is not secure” or “this site is not hosted at plex.tv” message. That is OK.
Can you login and access server settings?
If so, go to Settings → Server_Name → General and try to claim the server.
If you can claim the server, then you should be good to go. You should then be able to access it via https://app.plex.tv/desktop/.
Pull Log Files
Please pull & post a set of log files.
If you can reach server settings, go to Settings → Troubleshooting, download the log files, and post the ZIP file to the thread.
If you cannot claim the server or reach server settings, then do the following:
Login to the NAS and stop Plex Media Server.
Using the Terramaster file browser (File Manager?), navigate to the Plex Data Folder.
Compress the Logs directory to Logs.zip and post the zip file to the thread.
If you are unable to compress/download the entire Logs directory, then download and post the Plex Media Server.log through Plex Media Server.5.log files.
Linksys EA9500
NO on VPN
NO on WiFi Extenders
Gave up on the LapTop cranked up the Both Desktop’s my Personal and My Server before we had NAS and Cloud’s which are directly to the router
Stop/Start PMS
Login to the NAS and stop Plex Media Server.
Wait one minute.
Start Plex Media Server (the stop/start bumps the log files).
Wait two minutes for Plex to fully start and log everything.
Do you receive the same response as earlier, that the server is unclaimed?
Claimed = 0
Still nothing has changed
