Long standing request that allegedly doesn’t have a formal feature request.
Basically, if new media is copied or downloaded to my server (NAS share to be more precise) I have to either wait for the automatic update interval or force a refresh of my library to actually see the content. That’s fine when I’m using the plex client on my PC or the Android TV client, but when I’m out and about (or realistically sitting on the couch/in bed with my phone/tablet) the android and iOS client’s don’t have the same simple button/menu that allows refreshing your library.
This means you either have to swap over to your mobile browser and use that interface to force the refresh, then bounce back into the plex mobile app to actually consume said media -or- launch the client on another device/the server to force the library to update.
This isn’t a service breaking bug, and there are other work-arounds, but it remains a significant annoyance that shouldn’t exist. One which was reported at least three years ago and remains unfixed. Below is the link to the first thread I found on this via google, but there’s probably other threads on it as well:
This functionality is available now in the beta Plex app (v6.0) for iOS (with the UNO interface) from the LIbrary view. Presumably also available in the UNO beta for Android mobile app.
Plex team, if you’re not gonna add a manual rescan button, then at least fix the “automatic sync upon detecting library changes” so that it detects changes on NAS folders like the WD MyCloud EX devices. Right now, it does not scan automatically at all, no matter how many folders I add or change.
This has now been implemented for both iOS, TVOS, Android mobile, and Android TV.
Therefore I am closing this feature request thread.
