Please would y’all note down your Plex server platform/operating system?
Platform: Synology DS220+
Plex version: 1.32.0.6973
Server 1:
Platform: OS: Unraid / Docker Image: binhex/arch-plexpass
Version: 1.32.0.6950
Server 2:
Platform: Ubuntu Server 22.04.2 LTS
Version: 1.32.0.6950
Same issue here.
Server Version#: 1.32.1.6983
Linux, Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS
Reverting to 1.31.3.6868 solves the issue for me too. I think it’s an issue with the Plex Transcoder, because the contents of the font, fonts.config, and command are the same between versions when a stream is started:
[1]inlineass=font_scale=1.000000:font_path=/usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Fonts/NotoSans-Medium.otf:fontconfig_file=/usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/fonts.conf:language=en[2]
Before downgrading, I was using the latest Docker docker image on Linux. The tag says it is: version-1.32.0.6973-a787c5a8e
I have the same issues with version 1.32.0.6950 installed on Debian 11 via apt:
deb https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public main
Turning off subtitle burn-in seems to solve the issue (it was set to auto, after changing to never the subtitles were readable again), so it is likely related to transcoding issue.
Now on 1.32.1.6999 in my LG TV app, burn in “never” option no longer works…
Same issue here.
Bare metal install of Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS
Server Version#: 1.32.1.6983
Server Version#: 1.32.1.6999
Reverting to 1.31.3.6868 solved the issue for me too.
Hello,
Same issue here,
Server Version#: 1.32.1.6999
Linux, Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
Reverting to 1.31.3.6868 also fixed this for me.
Same issue as well. The burn in setting to “for image formats only” fix did fix things, but results in a rather bland font.
Server Version 1.32.0.6973
OS: Ubuntu Linux 22.04
Have the same issue - Checked a blu ray with both included and subtitles from another source. The issue is only with subs from another source.
The Blu ray subs are displayed correctly
Same issue, I also tried installing fonts via sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
and that didn’t seem to help at all. Ubuntu server 22.04, latest plex media server.
Has this bug been properly identified on your end yet / is there a timeline for when this bug might be fixed?
Great issue here with PGS subtitles.
When the stream start the subtitles does not appera and the system become unresponsive, I cannot pause, stop, try to change subtitles, I can only turn the TV off.
No transcoding happening:
Plex version: 1.32.0.6973
OS: Ubuntu linux 20.04
WebOS: 06.10.30
Plex client: 5.59.3
Completely different issue. Please open a separate forum thread.
I set mine to “Only Image Formats” and that seems to have solved it for me. Subs don’t look as clean but they def more readable.
Done, thanks (PGS subs on LG Smart TV break the app)
Also seeing this on Roku and web. The workaround to setting subtitles to use image only does not work for me either, either ASS or SRT. Coming from kodi, plex has unfortunately disappointed quite a bit with subtitles and configuration of them as well.
Plex Version 1.32.0.6973
OS: Linux mint 21
Roku plex 7.1
Would love for this to get fixed. Thanks.
I tried today with the new plex server docker image that came out today. It didn’t resolve the issue.
Docker hub image: plexinc/pms-docker
Plex version: 1.32.1.6999
OS: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
Plex client: Roku
Same problem here
