I’m having some issues with Plex finding the correct metadata for a TV series, specifically Batman: The Animated Series. I’m attempting to get Plex to display the series in production order, rather than air date.
So far to correct this issue, I’ve:
Added the DVD Order agent to Plex. This worked somewhat, but it ended up merging multiple episodes together.
I changed the file structure for the series to see if it would resolve the problem of the episodes merging. It did, but now the majority of the episodes are now labeled incorrectly.
I attempted to use Filebot, but it only gave the option list them in air date order.
If your files are in the mp4 / m4v container format, do the following first:
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
do the same under
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB (DVD Order) [or however this agent appears]
There might be currently some issues with 3rd party agents. Nothing particular has been identified as the reason. Stay tuned.
After renaming files, it is often necessary to perform the Plex Dance with the affected episodes to erase the previous ‘mismatch’ from the Plex database.
Thanks for your reply. I matched them in Filebot and it seems to have worked, but some episodes are still being named incorrectly. Is there a way to bypass it at all? I can provide a screenshot if needed.

Have you taken the precaution I mentioned in the beginning of my post?
Have you performed the Plex Dance afterwards?
