I only have this issue with 1080 resolution in MKV files. The rest of files works fine (less resolution I mean, I do not use higher resolution than 1080).
But only this issue is on the Smart TV, through laptop even far away from home, works fine.

Hi, I also noticed that this client started to buffer most HD films, where Xplay did not. Applogies if this has ben previously stated, but I resolved this in two ways. I noticed that my local server was treated as a remote server by default in the Plex client.
Neither of these affected buffering for high bitrate 4k films, but I am sure that this was not due to the client as Xplay, and the internal LG video player also buffer with this. I loaded these films onto a locally attached USB HDD, and they play fine from there.

It shows the server as nearby already, doesn’t help with the buffering. Xplay meanwhile worked fine other for 2 ~3 second bufferings

Shorter 720p files seem to work better now. Still having issues with feature lenght 1080p movies
I am still having buffering issues with 1080p movies too. 
I am having the same issues as the rest in this thread. Direct Play and Direct Stream buffer constantly on most 4K videos (usually ones with HDR).
I’ve tried a number of things, such as removing subtitles, additional audio tracks, chapters, etc. from the MKV file. None of that seems to make a difference.
I can play the same video files with HDR through the LG Photo and Video Player app, no problem using DLNA through Plex.
How high is the bitrate in the 4K HDR’s?
I ask because since the last update a couple of days ago all my playback issues seem solved with .srt subs.
However I have only tested with 4K encodes (20-40GB) rather than remuxes hitting up to 85GB.
I will try and test some remuxes tomorrow.

Yeah I just did a quick test of a couple of 4K remuxes both with forced .srt
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, played fine.
John Wick Chapter 2 (one of the movies with far higher bitrates) buffered constantly (with or without subs) . To be fair though both files are on Gdrive so it wasn’t a particularly scientific test.
However it played without buffer in MrMC.
I will download the latter overnight to my local server and test again tomorrow.
the 3.64.2 update can’t still playback thor ragnarok 4k remux without buffering, but other 4k remuxes plays just fine. All plays perfectly in xplay
Are your files sourced from torrents?
If so would you recall the release group for that particular torrent?

I never grab anything other than FraMeSToR or EPSiLON. Not sure which version of the two that particular film is but I will test it out in a while (Its early here).
Also just to confirm does it buffer with and without .srt subs or just when using them?
with or without subtitles it buffers. Another example is

I have a lot of Sonarr/Radarr activity going on at the minute and my 4K remuxes are on Gdrive and not local.
Once things quiet down I will bring them home to my local server. Kinda pointless testing for buffering with remote high bitrate files whilst my network is getting hammered.

Hey just to let you know I had zero issues with Thor Ragnarok. I can’t say for certain if I have the FraMeSToR or EPSiLON release, so perhaps in your case with the Coaster release, it’s just a bad copy or encoding?
Jurassic World however buffered a lot. Not as often as 15-20 seconds but probably every minute or so. The same file played fine in MrMC.
I also tested John Wick chapter 2 which is one of the highest bitrates and that was more or less all buffer and no play. Meanwhile, that also played fine in MrMC.
post the media info of the thor release you tested
I don’t think it’s a bad copy or encoding since it used to play fine (without subs) in the previous version (before the ugly UI). Same copy also plays fine in xplay and lg dnla
