LG webOS Plex 3.60.1 Buffering Problem

yeah is the same one

I believe we’ve tracked down the cause of the 4k stuttering/buffering, we’re working on a fix now to get it out ASAP. Unfortunately it won’t be in the next release (which will be 3.66), but should be in the one after it.

Thanks for all the information and your patience.

Just to remind. I am still having big issues with Buffering.

Ovlibion resolution 1080 (MicroHD), every 10 seconds is buffering. The same with other movies on 1080p.

I hope you can fix it soon… :frowning: … I cannot use plex anymore. imposible.

Is the issue on the PMS or client? Thank you for paying attention to the thread, and addressing the issues.

Thank you!

It’s a client issue, we’ll provide more information on what exactly the issue is/was once it’s tested and released.

Is there any sort of rough ETA as to when it might be released? It is quite a frustrating bug when you’re trying to watch a movie.

Pyrchased LG TV with WebOS 3.5 3 weeks ago.

2 weeks after purchase I had only minor troubles with buffering of HDTV content - usually flms ran smooth and when it didn’t restarting every of three devices - desktop machine (containing server), router and TV itself solved the problem within minutes.

Few days ago every HDTV content started lagging and buffering. The very same films I watched before without any lags. Very-very same.

Nothing helps anymore: made a clear reinstall of Plex server @ my desktop machine (Ci7 2700K @ 4.4GHz) . Made a reset of TV. Rebooted router few dozen times. All the same - films constantly “buffering” (every 15-20 seconds).

Happens only with high bitrate HDTV films 50000+ bitrate.

If I set lower qualinty (Up to 20000 vitrate) everything goes smooth. Preventing your next question, the problem is NOT in connection speed - it is the same 802.11ac that the very same movie ran smoothly in original quality. Furthermore, I tried connecting with ethernet cable - problem with buffering remains.

Curios adding: sometimes Plex client lags with this content while embedded LG player does not playing via DLNA. ANd vice versa. But mot time lagging all the same.

Can anyone give me a hand, please?

There is a known issue with very high bit rate media.
Markus mentioned the fix will be in the next release.

If all goes well it should be out in early September.

Could you please clarify what is the latest app version for WebOS 3.5 and it’s date? In LG content store I see ancient 2.1.0 ver. dated 07/09/2016. Is that correct? No updates for 2 years?

Weirdly that’s what the store also shows me.
However in the app itself it’s 3.66.1

@Markus101 whilst looking for this info I noticed webOS version shows “Unkown”
Any thoughts?

Yeah, I noticed that as well, looks like a fairly easy fix, I hope to get it into the next release.

Hi,

I have a same problem on my 55c6v WebOs 3.5…

SOLVED the problem (at least partially). (49UJ651V, WebOS 3.5)

Deleted PLEX Client from TV and native TV’s DLNA-client plays content without any lags after that! (From the very same PLEX-server)

Seems strange - how one application (PLEX WebOS client) could affect another application (WebOS native DLNA-client) in such way??

Hi version 3.66.1 on LG TV still has buffering issue. It is the same for 4k or 1080P movies. For all other devices (Android Phone, iPAD, Windows 10) with Plex Player no issue at all on the same network or via 4G LTE connection. Only WebOs Plex 3.66.1 has this “buffering” issue. Of course connected via 100Mbit/1Gbit LAN. Before I was able to stream 4K without problems. Hopefully fix will come with new version of Plex WebOs app for LG

It sounds like there’s a fix being tested, but for me, I did what someone suggested about adding the IP address of my Plex server to the manual servers list in the LG Plex app (since my server was incorrectly being listed as remote, which other people have reported) and it solved it - the server is no longer showing as remote by the LG Plex app and no more buffering. Admittedly, I don’t stream 4K content from Plex, mostly HD content recorded with Plex DVR, so it might not solve the problem for everyone, but it’s definitely resolved it for me.

  • I have added manually IP of my plex server.
  • Plex App 3.66.1
  • webOS - show “unknown” from PLEX app. but from TV is the version 5.30.20

Still having buffering issues with 4K.

No isssues in other clients, phone, android, iphone, macbook…web in localhost and also out of my network. Even with VPN.

Misinformed you. Problem still reveals itself even in LG native DLNA client. (Every2-3 days).

Works after plugging TV out of outlet and in again.

Didn’t find this setting. Could you please clarify where exactly is it?
