Once you get in in PLEX APp on TV, go to you “username” on the right up corner, then setting, and then Manual servers, or something like that, I have on spanish… over there you may enter the IP manually.
For me is not working, I am still getting buffering issues with 4K.
I cannot see any movie on TV so far, it is a pitty, I hope everything can be solved soon.
I know. I have tried even with a HardDrive connected on TV, thanks.
I have my PLEX server located on one room, and the idea is to watch a move on the livingroom or my bedroom through wifi, directly from my server, that the idea of PLEX.
If this does not have solution, I will start to think about migrate my server to another one.
I have found out that when you use first audio stream from MKV container than problem with buffering dissapeared. Tested with few movies 4k and 1080p and always the same. So obviously new Plex WebOS client has problem with MKV container management. Please fix it Plex dev team. Thank you
Could you please try the solution I published above and report back the result:
delete PLEX client and use native DLNA client. For me it helped - no more buffering issues.
Plugging TV off the the outlet and back helps also.
Yeah, its true. I have been using the original LG music and vídeo player for watch my movies without problems since i have the buffering issue. The film is played so flow infependently of resolution, bitrate and audio tracks. So its not a problem with the power of the server, the Speed of the lan or something else. Its a player problem, we have Very clear until the creation of the topic. My problem is i Dont have the knowledgment to analyse It. So i appeal to yours, oh great gods of plex!.
In my last post, I said that you connect a usb or hardrive directly to the TV and you play a movie directly from the TV, is working (with native LG player) without buffering issues. You do not need to delete the plex app or whatever.
Before I had PLEX, I used to see movies on this way. Of course is working. Bufering issue show up only in PLEX Client, not of the TV or Laptop or sever, it is not an issue of the MKV file, or TV.
But this was said before in this thread.
The problem is located on the PLEX Client App, not on the TV.
This issue cannot be solved like this, otherwise what sense has to have PLEX? why are we disccusing about this here so? Or, so, delete PLEX, delete PLEX server and conect the hardrive directly to the TV, problem solved. ¿? Come on. If we use PLEX server is because we have a computer all day on with hard drives, I do not want to move my computer near the tv, or the hard drive near the TV everytime I want to watch a movie, becuase of this I decided to install PLEX server, to avoid this. So this is not a solution for me.
In my case buffering problem revealed itself during HDR content display both in Plex client AND native LG client. Upon deleting plex client the problem gone from LG native player. Strange indeed.
Ever before buffering problem with HDR content revealed itself in both apps
In my case, with native LG player, everything works fine. HD movies 1080p plays ok without buffering. Buffering only shows up in PLEX PLayer on the TV.
I have tried even from my office, with an VPN, and no buffering issues.
I will try to install EMBY, and see how is working on the LG Tv. It is an opensource project, with good tech support in its forum. Will see.
Well,
Solution: that works for me in the meantime PLEX solves the issue with the Plex player.
Definitively the problem is on the PLEX APP from LG, by the way, last version is from 2016. I cannot believe that this App has not been updated since then.
Well, I have tried the last test. I have open the Native Navigator App from LG, I upload my PLEX server through my local address: 192.168.2.124:32400, and I have played a 4K movie 1080p 5.6mbps with NO BUFFERING ISSUE. At least, something is something.
@markus101, maybe this info is interesting. Do you think you could release a new version for the Plex Player on LG Tvs, solving this buffering issues?
That’s because it’s been updated multiple times since then (I would’ve thought the fairly extensive UI redesign would be a clue that there’s been updates…). The app on the LG Store is just a front end wrapper that tells the TV to download and run the current version of the app.
And there are posts in this thread from @markus101 already saying that they think they’ve identified the issue causing the buffering and are hoping to release an update in early September. One of which you responded to saying ‘Thank you!’…
I’m so happy I found this thread. I just spent the last week building a new unraid server with Plex docker and lots of other goodness… then discovered my LG was not playing the game. It started with just DTS 4K mkv issues and has also appeared on a few more high bitrate files with TrueHD etc. I played around for a couple of days with various unraid caching settings etc only to stumble on this thread.
Can’t wait to see the new update from the team, Plex is so great, and the unraid/plex combo is killer. Once these niggles are fixed I’ll be stoked. Thanks for the hard work!
