All my libraries have stopped working, with the error “There was an unexpected error loading this library” when selecting an individual library (and Something went wrong when clicking on the Home button)
I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction to solve this? I have done a good search of threads but turned up nothing so far. Many thanks.
I created and uploaded my latest logs, but then realised that the logs were in relation to my iMac, rather than my NAS (where my content is located.) When I tried downloading the NAS logs, I get a browser error “Safari can’t find the server”.
I don’t wish Plex to be using my iMac, just the NAS but I am not sure of the procedure for removing it from Plex.
I have just noticed that both my Plex Media Server.app and Plex.app are both dated 1 January 1970. This is after an upgrade to MacOS Catalina. I am not sure what to do, or why this happened. Anyone with any ideas?
Maybe take a step back and have a look at the big picture.
You have 2 Plex Media Servers, one on your iMac (w/ macOS Catalina) and one on your Synology NAS – did I get this correct?
What version of Synology’s DSM firmware do you have installed?
Same as with other apps on your Mac… just delete the app.
If you want to wipe all related data, you can also delete the Plex data folder on your Mac (as per the procedure described in Uninstall Plex Media Server).
To make it completely disappear from your Plex account you might want to delete the server entry from https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/devices/pms (this way the server will no longer show in your navigation as “offline”) – if you accidentally delete the Synology server from the list of authorized devices, you’ll need to claim it anew (no other configuration will be lost).
OK, I have deleted PMS from my iMac and started up the web app directly from the apps on Synology DSM but again, I am getting this ‘There was an unexpected error loading this library’ error, although I was glad to see my iMac gone from the server list on the left of the window.
I am hopefully not that far from the finishing line!
There are few odd errors appearing, such as ‘There are no items in this folder’ and the old ‘here was an unexpected error loading this library’ but hopefully these will sort themselves out. If not I will get back to the thread.
Rats, things have failed again, with Plex telling me that my Diskstation is unavailable, despite restarting it. I wonder if I have things connected properly?
I have the Diskstation NAS connected with a wired connection to my wireless router, to which I wirelessly connect my iMac and other computers in my house and to the fibre internet box. I have an Apple Time Capsule connected to the NAS, for a secondary backup for our computers; I sometimes use the Airport as the wireless router, as it seems to perform better than our ISP-supplied router at times.
Should I be connecting the NAS with a wired connection to my iMac (the main computer I use)? The iMac is located upstairs from the router and fibre box.
Any firewalls or security apps that might interfere with the communication inside your home network?
The behavior you experience is clearly not normal.
Thanks. Well its a bit of a murky area for me, but I have the firewall switched on in my System Preferences. I will turn it off and see if it makes any difference.
