One is the loading/seeing movies and I found the resolution in this forum. However, I have one movie that shows in the Plex movie repository (explorer), but it will not load to the Plex server interface, nor the Plex application on tv. This is not a movie added and deleted. From the first load to the directory explorer, through multiple deletes from the explorer and adding back from the movie repository I have on a USB drive, the load to the Plex server Interface does not receive it. A search within the server interface confirms the movie is not there.
The other is: from testing, when it comes to music, and I’m assuming the same with TV shows, a folder tree cannot be created in a single library i.e.music. So, if I have my music by category of, jazz, blues, rock (old school ), etc. I take I need to creat a music library for each. Is that correct? If so, its USB HDD’s for each device I use to play music on. It’s just easier to select a folder based on mood.
In advance thank you for reading and any input you can provide.
Plex doesn’t usually like it if you have additional tiers of folders to the expected organization schema (such as grouping your music by categories).
If you must keep the extra layers, you can e.g. treat each of those category folders as a library folder of its own.
Example
Folder structure
Music
Jazz
Artist A
Album 1
...
Blues
Artist B
Album 2
...
Album 3
...
Rock (Old School)
Artist C
Album 4
...
Instead of pointing your library to Music, point it to the individual category folders (and only to those!!); each library can be pointing to multiple folders… just make sure to avoid cross-references (e.g. by pointing to Music and some of its child directories). Based on the above example, you’d be pointing your library to :
I ran up a test folder I placed under the “Music” folder and loaded a single song. Went to the TV and the folder nor the song in the sub-folder shows up. I call that good and just use a smaller direct connect USB drive for that music structure on each device. This is not a big issue.
I reread your reply. Being honest, I’m not sure I get it.
I tried adding a sub-folder with the "music folder called Jazz. Placed one music file, and again, the folder nor the song shows up within the application in the folder.
So, I releazied that I may need to apply the add in library advanced. That worked.
Now I don’t see a folder, but the one song is there. In Genre, there is now Jazz (the sub-folder), however when selected, in only shows the one song I have in the root.
I’m not going to be at myself up over this. It would be nice to have, and at some point I’ll give it a deeper look and effort.
The one movie is an “MKV” as the majority of them are and they were all ripped the same way/same settings
