Library radio queues limited number of songs

Server Version#: 4.22.2
Player Version#: Latest update of the main Plex app for Windows. I’m not sure where to find the version number in the app, but it feels like it’s a essentially a wrapper around the web player.

Despite having thousands of songs in my library, Library radio consistently queues a small number of songs (this latest one was 21), and never queues more. This results in the music stopping after about an hour of playback.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a setting I’m missing somewhere?

Having it queue so few songs defeats half the purpose of the radio feature. I would expect it to play indefinitely, regularly queuing more songs without my intervention.

I’m trying to understand how Library Radio works. I skipped through several songs in Library Radio shuffle in Plexamp 3 for Android and it played some tracks from the same albums which seems unlikely to happen if it plays completely random. I have 18,460 albums in my library with 244,913 tracks. Furthermore, it never plays songs from Various Artists compilations, in which I have 7,764 albums. I feel like I’m missing most of my music when I use Library Radio.

Then I opened the regular Plex app for Android and went to Music and clicked the shuffle icon. It started playing then I skipped through several songs. Many were the same songs which played in Plexamp Library Radio!

I don’t understand how in such a big library I can only shuffle a handful of songs.

Is there any way to shuffle all my music?

This is another issue that seemed to happen since the music scanner had a major change last year.

I too am having this issue. I like the idea of artist radio, but when I play one of my favorite artist radio it play the same set of songs every time. This is becoming annoying, any help as to why is appreciated.

the queue only ‘displays’ a certain amount, that doesn’t mean that the queue isn’t or can’t be much longer

the library radio is not a random playing of your library, it use an algorithm, not a straight shuffle.

This workaround for random shuffle of all my tracks is what I needed and it works for me. Thanks!

I would use Stations in Plexamp if they worked better - more songs rather than just a handful and some don’t load at all (another topic - Plexamp 3 Bug Report),

have you tried mix builder?

set plexamp > settings > playback > radio > degrees of separation, to how much variety you want (mine is set to ONE)
mix builder > choose 3-6 artists > press the 3 dot menu, choose RADIO > profit.

MB mix = only selected artists
MB radio = selected + related (according to degrees of separation)

If I knew what artists I wanted to listen to Mix Builder sounds interesting, but usually I just want to hear random songs from my library of 250,000 songs like iTunes 12 does so well (but I prefer Plex’s ability to give me access to my music everywhere). Also, my library is not artist focused so I want to include tracks from my thousands of Various Artist albums when I search for an artist to play, which Plex does not do.
