Limit to Airing Time - Always an hour off

Does the DVR have a daylight savings bug? Whenever I pick a show to record and go in to advanced settings the time in the “Limit to Airing Time” is always an hour off.

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2527
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.26.1
Tuner Make/Model: SiliconDust HD HomeRun
Guide/Lineup name: Broadcast TV Hartford & New Haven OTA Broadcast
Using XMLTV?:
Channel number/Name: WFSB 3.1

Users reported a problem recording across the Standard/Daylight change.

It was cured by restarting the system

If this is otherwise systemic then I can’t help (don’t have DVR here)

Thanks but restarting didn’t help.

Anyone else have ideas?

If it’s always off by one hour, there must be an incorrect timezone setting which isn’t right in the system somewhere. Plex relies on the system time

The guide itself is correct (when it shows the line of the current time). The console also shows the current time correctly as I watch the logs scroll by.

It’s really just the “Limit to Airing Time” that’s wrong. Anywhere else I should check?

The only thing I can think of is the system clock itself.
I don’t know if QNAP uses UTC or Local time as its base.

I could find out if needed (reach out to QNAP tech support) or you can… They’re quick to answer such things.

I have the same problem on my synology DS916+, I’ve restarted the system, reinstalled plex, 1.18.8.2527, I’ve changed NTP providers, set time manually, set region and nothing works. All set airing times are off by an hour to late.

I have the same problem as well on a Ubuntu Plex server.

This is definitely a bug within Plex. If it was at the system level all of Plex would be impacted not just the airing time setting.

Hopefully we’ll see this fixed in a future update.

I have this issues as well. Running latest Plex server on a dedicated Windows 10 machine,. Time zone, etc. is correct.

What I can add is that if I delete the scheduled recording and reschedule it, the problem appears to go away for that particular scheduled recording…

Same here, tried a bug report and got no response. Mac and Hdhomerun airing limit always an hour out

I have this problem too. Only certain shows have this problem. No obvious pattern. My “solution” was to install Jellyfin to record the shows Plex couldn’t figure out. I suspect (with really little to go on) that the Plex guide is throwing things off as Jellyfin wouldn’t fare any better if it was local to the system.

I am running Plex Version 1.19.1.2645 on FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1

My DVR is also an hour off, but FreeNAS has the correct time as verified by entering “date” in the shell. I am able to fix the DVR time by giving FreeNAS the wrong time zone.

One interesting aspect is that the guide has the correct time, but the DVR is off by an hour.

Having the same issue… and If I remember correctly I’ve had this issue before, right after they added the DVR functionality.

Haven’t use DVR for over a year and coming back to using it, it’s quite disappointing it still has a lot of these basic bugs

I also have this issue running the latest version of plex on Unraid, the guide is correct and will play live the program it lists correctly in guide, but if you set a recording it’ll record the program out by an hour. Very frustrating, I’ve checked everything for updates and gotta be a bug in plex.

I do have an open issue on this with the development team

I see this problem also.

Win 10, current PMS, Hauppauge USB tuber for Xbox.

It’s any show I have scheduled for recording. If I select a specific airing time, it’s always an hour off. When it has multiple airing times, e.g. Daniel Tiger, the times are confusing - I can’t tell if it’s missing times or the times are several hours off.

Disappointing, but it doesn’t seem to stop the recording from working, but erodes confidence in the product.

A fix has been produced and will go through testing and QA and into a future release

A change has just been released in Plex Media Server beta 1.20.0 to address the Limit to Airing Time bug

Release Note:

  • (DVR) server would display incorrect times under “Limit Airing Times To” advance recording option. (#11362)

Hopefully I have to the Plex one hour off bug; I upgraded to 1.20.0.3125 and still had the issue. I did find however that the 1 hour offset was now a random offset (10:35 pm might be 11:53 am for example). I then tried deleting the SNL recording and adding it back, this got rid of the bug! I tried deleting and adding back another recording and that worked as well. It would be interesting to know if this works on older versions.
