Hello. I downloaded today the latest server version to mac beta (1.25.0.5246) but the error is still exists.
Plex Media Server for Mac

I will let you know when a change is released. Also there would be a release note relating to the fix
Hi @sa2000,
Is it possible to downgrade until the fix is ready?
I would have installed a Synology DSM 6 package for Intel 64bit but I couldn’t find where to download earlier versions.
Could you please help?
Thanks,
Greg
I managed to downgrade my PMS on Synology to 1.23.5.4862-0f739d462 and now VBox is working with its XMLTV option.
Has there been any upate regarding this?
I too have begun to receive the error insturcting me to check my tuner and antenna.
I have just purchased a VBox and I run Plex as a Docker. Initially I managed to get it all setup and working fine using the Plex EPG, shows were recording and TV was streaming nicely.
This week I decided to purchase and add a second VBox, however, Plex required me to remove and re-add my existing one, due to some kind of location restriction. Ever since doing so, I can no longer receive live TV via either of the boxes. I have tried numerous times to remove and re-add the tuners, as well as tried using the tuner XMLTV instead of the Plex EPG In an attempt to rule out any issues with my server. I have even setup a separate Plex Media Server on my laptop but this too suffers from the same issue. Resetting the VBox tuners and clearing bundles also doesn’t appear to help.
Any ideas? It seems odd that it worked previously, but suddenly does not work any more. I can receive streams fine from both VBox tuners using VLC, so I know these aren’t an issue.
The only outstanding VBox related issue that is yet to be resolved is the one relating to use of the VBox xmltv feature and channel identifiers have extended ascii characters or spaces
There was a Plex Web issue as well but that has been fixed in the hosted Plex Web app - available through https:://app.plex.tv/desktop
Please use the hosted Plex Web app via this url and if problems persist, ensure server debug logging is enabled and reproduce the problem after a fresh restart of the server and using the hosted Plex Web app and gte me debug server logs and screenshots during the time of failure and i will have a look - also indicate what was being tried and at what time
Thanks. But what could be the cause of the error? Plex Live TV have worked well before, and then comes an update that would make the software even better and crash an important service? Although nothing has changed in the vbox system …
Thanks.
I eventually managed to resolve the issue by following the steps to clear all Tuner data here: Delete All Tuner Data - #2 by OttoKerner
Plex now works well with one VBox device and the Plex EPG, however, I am having issues trying to add a second due to some incompatibility issues.
Will update again when I know more.
It is possible that the vbox issue is the same one as identified occuring when DVR setup data has old TiVo lineup - see Unexpected error when going to Live TV & DVR Settings - #72 by sa2000
There appears to be a Plex Web DVR Setup bug leading to the message “There was an unexpected error” when selecting Live TV and DVR Settings
This is not a VBox specific issue but is a general issue if the server DVR data in the media_provider_details table has a no longer existing lineup
Do we have debug server logs covering the time of the error for the VBox ?
The issue with no longer existing lineups giving this error has been referred to the Plex Web development team and I expect it to get looked into in January
(Please note that the Plex Web hosted app (via https://app.plex.tv/desktop) has correction to other setup issues for Vbox that the bundled Plex Media Server Plex Web app (via http://ip-of-server:32400/web) does not have - so any setup ought to be done using the hosted app)
I’ve given a bit more detail here in a separate thread…
Thanks - I have responded requesting diagnostics
Hello, can you already know when the vbox tuber character problem will be solved? I’ve seen updates but they didn’t include them. It’s been 3 months …
The issue affecting tuning channels on vbox using their xmltv feature and with channel identifiers that has spaces / extended characters has been fixed in Plex Web in the hosted app version 4.75 which was released today
The problem led to tuning errors and server logs showed log entry containing (The device does not tune the required channel)
The hosted web app is accessible through https://app.plex.tv/desktop
This bundled app accessed through the Plex Media Server IP Address will get updated sometime in the future
For anyone who ha this issue - please confirm that it is fixed when using the hosted web app (https://app.plex.tv/desktop) and the Vbox xmltv functionality and let me know if the problem does also need fixing in other Plex client apps
Plex Web Release Notice: Plex Web - #380 by bengeorge
- Fix watching live TV channels with special characters in channel ID
with Plex web Some channels work some don’t.
On Samsung Tizen tv with native Plex app work some channels some don’t…
On Apple TV the problem didn’t solved. nothing have changed.
Thanks for the quick response
Has the hosted plex web app https://app.plex.tv/desktop resolved any of the playback errors where we previously logged in the server log (The device does not tune the required channel)
?
There may be more than one cause for playback errors
Could I have the xmltv file and debug server logs for the channels that do not playback through https://app.plex.tv/desktop and indication of times of errors and which channels
Could you get me server logs for these failures - to establish if it is the same issue that was addressed in Plex Web 4.75
I understand a fix has already been released for versions 5.30.0 or later for the following Plex apps:
Plex for Samsung (2016+ 4K/UHD televisions)
Plex for VIZIO SmartCast
Plex for VIDAA (Hisense televisions)
Plex for webOS 3.0+ (LG Televisions)
Plex for Playstation 4
Plex for Playstation 5
Plex for XBox
If there is still an issue with any of these apps, please let me have details of failure (time and channel) and debug server logs and app logs - see articles relating to logs for the client apps Category : Player Apps and Platforms | Plex Support
