Live TV and DVR DONT WORK! PLEX FINDS VBOX DEVICE BUT AFTER... NOTHING

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5081
Player Version#: 4.63.0
Tuner Make/Model: Vbox DVB-C
Guide/Lineup name:
Using XMLTV?: YES
Channel number/Name:

Plex finds the Vbox device, and the “Antenna” is not changeable to cable, when i click to continue, it is searching after a while display “Awaiting channel scan” but nothing happens, When i click to “Scan channels’ the writes 'No Channels found. Make sure your device has a signal from your antenna and try again” BUT: VBOX is cable device DVB-C, not antenna, and YES, Vbox works with KODI perfectly, so the problem is in the PLEX!!! Please fix it!!!

Would like to see debug server logs of the problem - but for scanning channels, the scan should first be done within the vbox setup interface and once the scan is complete in vbox then go through DVR| setup.

To get diagnostics please run the server with debug logging enabled - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/

And after the channel scan is completed in vbox and the vbox is available for use, then relaunch Plex Media Server app so that we get fresh logs created

Then go through DVR setup and take screenshots as you along and highlight issues that you encounter

Then please provide details of country, post code, guide used or if xmltv and any errors

To get the logs see the linked server logs support article

Hello this is the screenshots:

and the whole log. iCloud

Country: Hungary,
Post code: 5000 but I don’t use it, instead grab EPG from Vbox generated xmltv:
http://192.168.0.116:55555/vboxXmltv.xml
there is no error with grabbing xmltv from vbox
only error is the PLAYING. None of the channels is playable. But own Vbox app is plays all of them.

Regards Z.

Thank you

Appears that Plex Media Server is not coping with the non standard channel numbers / identifiers - in this case they were

I will refer this to our development team
Could you get me the following http request responses from the vbox

http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/vbox-546C
http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/vbox-546C/scanners
http://192.168.0.116:55555/vboxXmltv.xml
http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/discover

Please save each response into a separate text file and then upload them here individually or as zip file

@NTLX

If you have not done these already

http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/vbox-546C
http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/vbox-546C/scanners
http://192.168.0.116:55555/vboxXmltv.xml
http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/discover

it might be better to do them with curl rather than a browser

So start a terminal session and then execute these curl commands one at a time

curl -o vboxresp2021-11-03a.txt http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/vbox-546C

curl -o vboxresp2021-11-03b.txt http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/vbox-546C/scanners

curl -o vboxresp2021-11-03c.txt http://192.168.0.116:55555/vboxXmltv.xml

curl -o vboxresp2021-11-03d.txt http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/discover

This will create 4 text files in the current directory

vboxresp2021-11-03a.txt
vboxresp2021-11-03b.txt
vboxresp2021-11-03c.txt
vboxresp2021-11-03d.txt

which you can attach in a post here or zip and attach the zip file

Done. Sorry the last one http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/discover
is : “Not Found The requested URL was not found on this server.”

plex.zip (59.2 KB)

Done. this way:

vboxresp2021-11-03d.txt (132 Bytes)

Could you try with “POST” option - so would be

curl -X -o vboxresp2021-11-03d2.txt http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/discover

Thank you - i believe we have sufficient diagnostics for the problem. I just wanted to make sure I had captured all responses to requests made by the Plex Media Server

I missed the “POST” after the “-X” so it should have been

curl -X POST -o vboxresp2021-11-03d2.txt http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/discover

done.
vboxresp2021-11-03a.txt (535 Bytes)

When is it expected that the Live TV / DVR will be available again?

The attachment in your post is not the file from this last “CURL POST” request

I do not have any information on that. It has been raised for the Plex Media Server team. The alternative of course is for vbox to use channel identifiers that are numbers (or simple form alpha numeric) as is normal with cable and over the air channels

Everytime i try to attach the vboxresp2021-11-03d2.txt, always displays [vboxresp2021-11-03a.txt , i dont know why… but the 2 files are the same.
I copy the vboxresp2021-11-03d2.txt:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

The alternative:
I’m not affected by the vbox company, I don’t know which solution is faster and more expedient. Maybe you should communicate each other. I hope the repair will be ready later this year. How will it arrive? with server upgrade? Will I need to add the DVR tuner again?

I made a screenshot:

Képernyőfotó 2021-11-04 - 19.06.08

We are

Could you see if this returns the tuner channels

curl -o vboxresp2021-11-05e.txt http://192.168.0.116:55555/devices/vbox-546C/channels

and if it does contain list of channels - please attach

vboxresp2021-11-05e.txt (1.3 KB)

this is the full non-encoded channel list:
vboxresp2021-11-05full.txt (9.8 KB)

Thank you for all the diagnostics - the latest info has been referred to our Plex Web and Plex Media Server teams

Thanks! I hope that the upgrade will arrive soon.
