Live TV and recorded TV playback stutter, buffering, and pixelation using Plex Server 1.18.0.1846

I’ve had the same issue with both of the 1.18 builds. Running it with the QNAP-x86.

Hello, just to confirm that the issues are experienced during live TV as well as when recording.

Hey guys! we hope to have another build soon that has a tentative fix for this issue. Thank you for your patience while we work to get this solved

If its of any help, I know we’ve isolated the issue but Im running PLEX as a SNAP in Ubuntu with the same issue. I’ve noticed that these tend to get updated a little slower than the regular builds. is there going to be a work around for this?

Hi all - here’s a new build to test. We hope / think this fixes it.

As before, please backup databases before installing!

LINKS Removed. They would no longer work. Please use the beta update.

I may be new, but how do I go about installing this in the UBUNTU SNAP?

Thanks everyone for your help. We have deployed the above build to Beta (see: Plex Media Server)

Please let us know how you get on! We plan to release it to everyone on Monday (to avoid the additional risk that comes with releasing on a Friday)

The team are already aware that this fixed my problem, but anyone not sure whether to upgrade or not should give it a go.

It also stutters on audio playback. Upgraded to 1944 on my Synology and it’s still there. Better than before… but not gone.

Good to know, I have synology too. I will wait for the next release. Thank you

This corrected the issue on my Ubuntu 19.04 server. No stuttering observed on the web interface or my ShieldTV

Thank you guys. This fixed the Live TV issues on my Synology DS918+.

@JanSkinnerup Do you experience the same log errors as described here: Live-TV 1.18.0.1913 ?

@daniel_2 I don’t seem to have those errors in my transcoder logs from the Synology. But I do have audio stuttering when listening to music on iOS and it started with the first 1.18.0 that I installed.

Interesting. I’ve been having problem loud noise using my headphones with Samsung S6. But, I think is not related to this. Hope that it could addressed as fast that this tv live issue was.

I’d love if Plex tested these updates before actually releasing them, seems they just YOLO it when pushing them out, this is the reason why i’m still stuck on version 1.16.3.1402, I went up to 1.17 and it’s was a buffering stuttering mess and had to downgrade (which is time consuming on a qnap nas cause you have to back everything up, uninstalled the app and reinstall it).

Why anyone would want to purchase a subscription from Plex with all these errors is beyond me.

Plex sort your cr@p out

I’m running into this on MacOS (10.13.6 build 17G8037) backed by a Synology iSCSI target for recorded media being played to my Chromecast (gen 2). Plex build is 1.18.0.1944.

Playing to Plex Media Player on my MacOS (10.14.6 build 18G87) laptop works fine.

I’ve not tried any of the experimental builds in the thread thus far. There have been several beta stream builds this week and I was hopeful that each would address this issue, but no luck.

Audio playback as in playing music? I’ve upgraded to 1944 and I’m not observing audio stuttering. I’ve tested FLAC direct play and FLAC to Opus trans-coding with Android.

Yes - audio playback.
On a 45 minute session this morning it did it twice - both times for about a minute or so. So it’s not a lot… and better than with the first 1.18 update. But it’s still there.

It manifests itself as small skips in the audio where songs jumps a half or a whole second ahead. No pauses or stops… just small jumps ahead. It does this 10-15 times during a song. Then it plays fine for 15-25 minutes.

My music is .m4a and I play listen to it on an iPhone.

I can not reproduce this on my Pixel 3 or Chromecast audio. I’ve been listening to music all morning. Did you upgrade iOS recently?

I installed 1944 earlier today and it looks good so far.
Thanks for the update.
