Hauppauge WinTV DualHD (USB)

Approximately every 5-10 minutes while watching OTA broadcasts on Live TV, the signal is lost and an error message appears saying to “check the connection”. I can regain the signal if I exit out of and restart the Plex app. This behavior seemed to start after the Nvidia Shield 9.2.1 upgrade.

This happens no matter what OTA channel is selected. The Hauppauge WinTV DualHD works fine when used by itself on a PC. I have checked the connections, deleted the DVR and rescanned channels.

Attached are log files for the most recent example, which occurs around 17:35 on 19 June 2025.

I was able to ask if ya’ll are still able to reproduce on 1.41.8 but it looks like it’s still happening for at least another user. @gunnersboy @tulsatv could either of you also check out 1.41.8?

@Atomatth yes I had the issue on 1.41.8. This was the beta version that I tried when on 1.41.7. Both 1.41.7 and 1.41.8 have the issue and 1.41.6 does not.

Any news on when hopefully a new release will come out to fix it?

I am having the same issue with Plex on Nvidia shield. Not sure if I am looking at the right part of the logs but this is what I see at the time of the last issue:

No ETA on a fix but I have been able to reproduce so adding my logs to the internal issue and bumping it.

FYI - I have also observed that the signal loss does not occur as frequently or at all when recording OTA shows on live TV. I can usually record shows in their entirety without a signal loss occurring.

@Atomatth can you confirm that the recently released PMS 1.41.9.9912 does NOT contain a fix?

Correct. 1.41.9 does not have a fix for this issue. The issue is still being investigated.

I believe I have a fix for this which will be in the next version of 1.41.9 to hit the beta channel and SHOULD hit the public channel in the next week or two.

While I have been happy with the decision to become a Plex Pass Lifetime member, this is not the first time a change in the server app has rendered my LiveTV and DVR (via a hard drive connected directly to my NVIDIA Shield) unusable. Sadly, it has also cost me quite a bit of time troubleshooting things on my end. After also purchasing new hardware (part of troubleshooting process), I decided to install Plex Server on a Mac Mini I have connected to my network in my basement… On the PLUS side, ALL the lost functionality returns when the NVIDIA Shield uses the Mac server. As Plex employees have now been able to duplicate this problem, I’m hopeful that testing the equipment that has affected this community becomes standard practice and this kind of issue goes away for good. Please update when there is a fix available.

I’ve been having the same issues with Live TV and DVR on Shield. Live shows drop frequently while being watched live from HDHR. Recorded shows get truncated and are pretty much useless. I set up another server and DVR on a temporary Windows 10 PC and these problems went away. Also the Android phone app won’t show EPG content after 8PM. Hasn’t worked for weeks. I have to use a laptop to schedule recordings. Frustrating.

I was able to confirm that this IS working for me. Letting a Live TV airing play for hours now :+1:. Let us know if we missed something though.

I’m hoping others can check and confirm as I won’t have access to my Shield for a couple of weeks.
