You may need to provide logs for them to diagnose the problem
I have this exact same problem. Android TV currently canāt keep live TV stable. It started after the last update which was a while ago and has no changelog I think.
@Atomatth what changed in the last Android TV update? The live TV has been unstable ever since, and other changes such as the seekbar appearing when the user pauses. And why was there no changelog to it?
I canāt test for a couple of weeks. So any logs you have will help them refine the beta.
Have you tried the latest beta for Plex Media Server? Does that fix the issue for you?
No, the Live TV has always been stable for me in all PMS versions. This is a client issue and it started in the last Android TV version 10.28.0.
Live TV works in all other clients for me, even the new experience, but itās not out for Android TV yet.
@Atomatth @gunnersboy @chris_decker08 The Beta appears to be working for me. Have had an OTA channel running continuously on my 2019 Shield Pro Android TV for over 35 minutes.
What was the problem? It appeared to me that the PMS āsmbā software (specific to the Shield) thought the HDHomeRun was unavailable when it really was available.
The specific issue is caused by a compiler bug which is creating bad optimized code for ARM platforms.
I have the same issue running Plex server on MacBook Pro with HD HR duo (Ethernet). Has been stable for 2+ years but crashes every time I play live TV last 30 days on any client - Web, Apple TV, iPad OS.
Will the beta work for Mac OS Plex server?
@Atomatth I have returned from holiday so can now download this working version. I have updated PMS but it has only updated to 1.41.8.9834 despite this 1.41.9 being pushed to public release. Not a problem, Iāve registered on the beta to get the 1.42 version which will include this fix. However, itās not appearing as an app update.
So now Iām stuck with 1.41.8 which has this problem. Out of interest, why donāt the apks get published for the beta versions?
How do I go about updating, either through public or beta option to fix this on my setup?
You should be able to install via Google Play store. NVIDIA Shield instructions for access the Beta channel is called out at the bottom of this support article.
Asking around about this ![]()
Thank you. It eventually came through as an update. Normally, it would be there straight away but took about 30 minutes for it to show. Iām now on the latest beta and all is working OK.
I installed the Beta release 1.42.0.9975 and am now able to record full shows. Much better, thanks.
