If we submitted a guide error and haven’t seen it fixed yet - how long should we wait before re-submitting it? Or is there another way to correct issues with gracenote? Thanks.
Seems to be a problem with a lot of the +1 channels in the UK showing wrong guide data. Also, when Plex found a conflict, it would often move the recording to a later +1 channel. I’m not convinced that’s working any more.

HD channels are registering correctly as HD in Plex
…there are others, but I don’t use them
My HD related problems are these:
-
"Unknown airing" displayed in guide if I select "HD channels only"
-
Plex will not record episodes from my HD channels if I select:
→ “Resolution: HD Only”
I think these two issues are related i.e. Selecting “HD Only” prevents both airings being seen and also shows being recorded.
Plex will record episodes from HD channels if I select both:
- Resolution: Prefer HD
- Limit to Channel: 105 Channel 5 HD (as an example)
Same issue here when a filter is turned on. Obviously as discussed anything before 101 shouldn’t be HD anyway… but as soon the filter is on the guide data turns to mush.

Additionally I’m still seeing the following channels identified as HD when they are SD:
- 050 - TJC
- 056 - Smithsonian
- 080 - Blaze +1
As reported during the beta as well as in this thread here, here and here.
I am the same as you it seems. Out of interest you don’t have FreeSports in that list, is that just because your tuner doesn’t pick it up/you’ve turned it off OR is it marked correctly as SD in your EPG?
It wasn’t a channel I was aware of but It looks like my tuner isn’t picking it up
I only have 22 channels switched on (the ones I watch/record), so I just switched your 3 on to see what I get:
I have the same issue.
[edit: misread the photo]
I must be dreaming - is it really happening ? !
In a lot of respects this new EPG is WORSE than it was before.
What should we expect though? 3 months after release and we are practically being ignored.
Another server update full of “gaming fixes” and no attention to the core paid for product.
As above, random channels identified as HD when they are not. The “HD Channels Only” drop down box now gives unknown airings galore so every time I want to schedule a recording I have to scroll down the list of channels to get to the HD ones on the main view.
And watching a recording from the start - still borked on Android TV, no sign of a fix, no acknowledgement of it either.
Hope prospective buyers are reading and weeping with laughter at this botched product before they are weeping real tears at having wasted their cash…
USELESS!
I’d noticed the “Unknown airing” with the “HD channels only” issue, so I decided to have look in the EPG database and see what the difference was between the known and unknown airings.
The media_items table has width and height columns and it appears that the unknown airings have width=720 and height=480 while the known airings (on the Smithsonian channel) have width=1280 and height=720.
I updated the database to change the width and height for one of the unknown airings and after refreshing the EPG page in Plex, that airing showed up.
That suggests that the “HD Channels Only” filter doesn’t just filter the channels on those flagged as HD but also filters on the resolution of the individual programs and that the unknown airings are SD programs being broadcast on an HD channel (or Plex has the resolution wrong for these programs).
Just when there is hope that Plex are re-engaging, it goes quiet again. Can anyone from plex acknowledge the HD filtering issues and re-assure that it’s being investigated?
@sixones @SamFromPlex have been helpful in sorting other issues so maybe they can have a look at this as it’s quite widespread.
So when you updated the database and refreshed it then recorded in HD? If so, seems like a very simple fix as it only needs to filter the channel tagged as HD rather than the resolution of the programme?
This is my experience too.
My default is to have ‘Prefer HD’ but I wanted something on Channel 4 recorded in HD so I changed to ‘HD only’ but it recoded in SD (I know for a fact all 4 tuners were free)
I also have some channels showing as HD (when they are SD) and the Unknown Airing issues when filtered to HD only on the EPG:
Yup…
UPDATE: Split Movies (Freeview UK)
Good news everybody, we’ve injected the logic to reconstitute split movies into a single airing. Per @sa2000’s post on the 16th this will target split movies on the channels that the community has identified as problematic, specifically;
- Channel 5
- ITV2
- 5USA
- ITV4
- ITV2 +1
- 5 Star
- Paramount Network
- Sony Movies
- Sony Movies Action
- Channel 5 +1
- Sony Movies Classic
- 5Select
- Sony Movies +1
- Channel 5 HD
If you come across any channels afflicted by split movie programming that are not listed above let us know.
That’s great but what’s the catch? I have to delete my DVR again, right?
Nope! You do not have to take any action to see split movies reconstituted back into a single airing, your guide should update over the next 24 hours.
Okay, well that sounds promising, but I’ve already scheduled some split movie recordings, are they broken now?
Nope! If you’ve already scheduled a recording that is currently listed as a split movie it should record as expected.
Okay, but what else?
For those of you that use comskip for commercial removal or skip marker creation, at the time of this post, we’re not sure how reliably comskip will handle the news segment, if at all. I’d love to hear what your experiences are in the future.
That’s fantastic news - thank you
I’ve just refreshed my guide and can already see that some of the movies I have scheduled over the coming week, but hadn’t manually adjusted yet, are now scheduled correctly now
However, I had a couple of oddities with a few of my scheduled recordings next Friday:
- 5 Select: Fri 2nd April 13:10 - Miss Potter
- ITV2: Fri 2nd 14:55 - Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
- ITV2: Fri 2nd 17:55 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
a) The guide is showing two parts with the first being an hour long. The 5 minute interval has been removed so one of the parts has been extended but it looks like the two parts haven’t been stitched back together:
Restarting Plex for Windows seem to solve this issue.
b) The DVR schedule appears to show only the first half as being scheduled to record and not the full movie:
Restarting Plex for Windows didn’t resolve this but restarting the Plex Server software did.
I’m not sure what is happening there but if anyone else has similar issues I would recommend restarting the software.
Thanks for the feedback @captain_caveman2k. Butler tasks should have cleaned these all up over the subsequent 24 hours, your actions just accelerated the process. If anyone does find themselves stuck in some of these states by EOD tomorrow, please post here.
This is great news, thank you very much. I’ll be sure to feed back any issues found.
