Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

gracenote flubbed the rick and morty season finale.

can see it here where the last two episodes are out of order

http://dev.showcase.labs.gracenote.com/newyorkcity/en/program/10376284/5
they seem to have half-fixed it though as if you go into their episode list, then it’s in the right order.

will have to go massage the dvr by hand it seems.

Seem to be a number of unknown airing gaps appearing in the UK E4 guide recently. This one on Sunday 5.25pm:

It’s happening in the US too. This guide sucks. All Original Airdates show as the current date and time instead what it should be.

I don’t understand - not recorded but showing in the guide?

When you look at the schedule for the recording. What do you under “Limit to Channel” in Advanced Setting? May be there is an issue with this functionality

Would need debug logs and screenshots showing what the advanced setting is and other advanced settings

I haven’t changed any settings in months and had been working fine (albeit slight erratically as to where it removed commercials or not). I wonder if it was related to a recent Guide outage mentioned on here? I did notice when I logged on to check why it hadn’t recorded that it was downloading a new guide update, but I guess that could have been coincidence. Been working OK since then too.

Any idea why my DVR would be re-recording existing episodes that were themselves recorded by my DVR (same channel, Series, episode, res etc) only a couple of months ago?

It’s saving to a different folder, but in the same library. I save all my DVR’d stuff to a separate folder in the library so I can see them and edit them before putting the in the TV folder - been doing this for years so this shouldn’t be the cause.

The Series in question is QI XL (2009)
The Channel is 019 DAVE
The show has been properly matched using the “Plex TV Series” scanner.

Cheers.

I don’t but I’m having similar issues with the repeats of The Good Place (2016) season 2 and 3 that are currently on 030 4 Music.

Whilst I can possibly understand issues from previous recordings made with the Tivo EPG, I also have duplicates of the repeats from March and April this year, for example:

Note: Ignore the files from 2019 as a) The DVR has been re-created since then - first for the Tivo EPG change (30th June 2019) then for the switch back to Gracenote (20th November 2020) and b) I also renumbered the episodes to match the “correct” episode listings and not the US showings that Plex wants to use!

Maybe’s there’s some kind of mismatch between library and EPG.

@sa2000 is this something you are familiar with?

I’ve submitted this to the Google Form linked in this post. Thought I’d also post these recent changes here:

OTA Des Moines, Iowa, USA Lineup Changes 2021/10

23.2 Escape was removed

23.5 GetTV was added

32.6 DABL was added

39.7 NEWSY was added

Thanks!

Chris

Please double check this channel number. I cannot see it here RabbitEars.Info

What I see for DABL is 41.3

Problems like this are not easy to investigate. Initial investigation would need debug logs covering the time leading up to the recording and also just after the end of the recording and any post processing and if same problem would continue for subsequent episodes - then info on zip code / lineup / channel / airing times would be good to have as well

Plex Live TV/DVR won’t bring it up in a scan right now. Those channels are weak for me. Here it is in Tablo:

And the HDHomeRun software:

HDHomeRun

Thanks again for the help!

Chris

RE: UK TV (Freeview) - Postcode: OX13

Looks like the logo for channel 113 - RT HD has changed to something it shouldn’t.

Premier Sports 2 HD isn’t on Freeview.

Channel 234 which is the SD version of it, is still correct.

I can imagine they are not easy.

It appears to do it for some episodes and not for others. Bizarre. This is a lower priority issue (I guess) so won’t use up your time analysing my logs etc.

Are these channels for an adjacent - nearby market or are they for Des Moines, Iowa.
As I mentioned I cannot see them listed for this market on RabbitEars.Info

There are no 32.x channels showing in the Display Channel column for Des Moines, Iowa

Do you have a link to some OTA service update announcement relating to this?

If it is for an adjacent region, then please see this post Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for - #209 by cire12

I will submit a request for the other channels to Gracenote

Update: can you do a scan on the tuner and see what the tuner is receiving for 41.x channels - I can see DABL showing on rabbitears on 41.3

Hi, I’ve been a long time user of plex but now I’m planning to move into the DVR world, and my question is largely EPG related so this seems like a good thread to add it to.

In the past I used to use a TV card and WMC and all was well, now I have a satellite feed (UK Freesat Astra 28.2) but terrestrial broadcast isn’t an option, so my first thought was put the satallite tuners in the plex server and happy days.

Now, my DVBSky card isn’t supported and is recognises it incorrectly and wont detect any channels (the DVBSky app does see the channels), thats ok I don’t mind buying new tuners but the problem there is the supported tunder list is out of date and I can’t even buy the ones listed any more.

In addition to that I read the forums that the build in support for satellite tuners in Plex didn’t work too well and not to bother with it so my thought turned to one of these plans;

  1. Buy a hardware device that translates the 4 satellite (DVB S2) feeds into 4 DVB T2 type signals, its an expensive bit of kit at about 800ish but should be reliable, then, I could bypass plex and send it all round the house to wall ports but I think the EPG would be lost in the process and as far as I know plex DVR should be quite a nice system, and should allow the EPG to be remapped to the signal.

Of course I would need to buy cards to recieve the DVB T2 signals, four lines, so ideally two cards with 2 ports on each so suggestions as to which ones will work well with plex well received.

  1. Similar and equally expensive, a hardware device that turns the satellite feeds into IPTV, box is the same price and again I could receive it anywhere on the network with a receiver but I want to use plex dvr, I read that theres a bit of sotware that I could run on the server to recieve the IPTV signals and appear as a tuner in Plex, though this would save on the expense of 2 new tuner cards it does feel like a bit of a pain compared to the fully hardware route.

Now with either of these approaches I have to have a mostly working EPG, and since it’s been many years since I setup a PC as a DVR and I haven’t used Plex dvr I’d like some input as to if it sounds like these approaches should work, what would be a good pair of tuners and that the EPG should work ok…

Edit: I’m now considering as it has 3 PCIe slots to get 3 of these which I assume will work well with Plex;

Thanks

Appears to have happened on the 6th October and is wrong for whole UK.
I have referred this to Gracenote

Thank you for reporting it

No problem. Thanks for the quick response.

Has there been any progress on any of the other logo issues from this post ?
