I agree and I’m pretty much just getting ignored now by the primary Plex employee that’s working on it:(. This will be the third employee that’s blew it off( if that’s what’s happening). Hate contacting the CEO but I guess he’s the next one up:(. I’ll wait till the end of this week as that will mark almost two months with this problem and over 2 1/2 weeks with this employee. Not giving up on you guys! I don’t mind ruffling some feathers.
Thank you for your efforts, I have never seen a Plex issue this bad last this long. It is an unusable feature, they should definitely be listening and making more of an effort to fix it. We appreciate your help!
It’s happening to me with both live AND recorded shows. It is forcing me over to the HDHomerun app on my Fire Stick and that app is about as useful as chopsticks with chicken broth.
Raspberry Pi 4 PMS
HDhomerun Scribe Quatro & Locast
3rd Gen FireTV Sticks
@DCI-Mike Now I have a solution for that Lmao!

Came here with this exact same problem
Server on Windows 10
Same issue here, Live TV is the sole reason I purchased Plex Pass and it’s unwatchable. I have tried running a server on a Raspberry Pi 4, an AMD machine, and an Intel/Nvidia machine, with TV coming from a HDHomeRun Connect and a Hauppauge soloHD. All have the same issue with the Plex app on my Android TV, sometimes it’s just buffering way too often, sometimes it gets stuck in a sort of loop of buffering then jumping back a few seconds and buffering again, etc. I’m having to use the HDHomeRun app right now which works flawlessly, unlike Plex
Same issue here. It is garbage and only reason I signed up for Plex Pass
Please reply on this thread guys and girls I just posted a informational post.
90 minute buffer Loop fix alpha / beta is ready for testing! This update is a lot better. It may have taken a long time but I think it fixes a large amount of buffering / time out problems I have tested in the short amount of time its been available. This is Alpha and can have problems, so far I have found the recent channels are not updating correctly and the channels seem to load quicker but they’re not loading correctly sometimes. 8.11.0 is still the most stable build, but this is getting close.
This does fix the 300 second and 90 minute bug. I have tested it.
I have the same issue under xTeVe, glad it’s not xTeVe acting up and glad a fix is coming. Finally I can get rid of TiviMate and enjoy all Plex features.
Doesn’t solve it for the Shield.
Please explain, do you have an example with the Alpha?
Not sure if it’s the same issue as the one being reported? But if a recording is in progress and I try to watch that show and select “Watch from beginning” then it buffers the first couple of seconds over and over again. This is with the Alpha installed (8.15)
Okay give me a little bit it’s 5 a.m. here, I’m just waking up. I’ll try to get it tested today. And go from there. May get logs to send to the appropriate person and reach out to you to get logs sent to them to.
@gunnersboy not sure why it’s not working for you. Try to do a clean install on the Plex app by clearing the data and uninstalling / reinstalling the app on your Shield client. I tested it quite a bit on my side and I couldn’t get it to act up, it didn’t buffer one time on alpha. Once you’ve tried that report back and let me know if that works. Now with Alpha it does have a known issue where it doesn’t start from original time you have to rewind.
OK so may have been sorted. However, that’s on a show that I just pressed record on. It will be interesting to see if it works on a scheduled recording. Last night when I had the Alpha installed it didn’t work on the scheduled recordings. I have that at 8pm tonight so will report back, but it seems to work on shows I set up to record and then test straight away.
Okay, I don’t use Plex DVR but I’ll do the same. I’ll setup something to record for later this evening and test it.
Please report any new problems here. Buffer seems to be fixed!

I can confirm what gunnersboy said about the problem with watching a recording from start. I installed the Alpha apk, rebooted the Shield, cleared cache (did not clear data).
I set a show to record, left the guide, and went to watch something from my Library. 15 minutes into the show I went back to the guide and clicked on the show that was recording to watch it. I chose the option to Watch from start. It gets stuck in a loop at the beginning with no way out of it. Fast Forwarding and anything else I tried brings you right back to the loop. You have to hit the back button to get back to the guide and choose another channel to stop the loop.
What does work is choosing Watch live instead of Watch from start and then Rewinding to the start. I tried the same thing a second time on a different program, different channel. Same thing happened. I tried a third time and went to watch it after just 2 minutes and there was not a problem, so it must be a certain length where it kicks in. I can tell you it happens after 15 minutes though so try that to reproduce it. When I left the 3rd program (where it didn’t happen after 2 minutes) on for 20 minutes and went back to watch, it happened on that one too.
Edit: I’m not sure if I was supposed to post this here or in the Alpha thread. I will post there too and if the Mod wants to delete one I’ll leave it up to them. This is my first time posting here.
