Local media assets not displaying on some movies after server update to Version 1.0.0.2261

Some of my Movies folders are not displaying the local media assets after today’s server update. I have tried removing them, rescanning, restarting the server etc to no avail. The Local Media Assets is listed first on all of the agents. I have more than 800 movies on here and I really can’t go through them all to find which ones are not working and which ones are but from a few that I checked it is a lot. The local media scanner logs show that it see’s the files but just doesn’t display them. Here is an excerpt from the log…

Any ideas?

Found 2 media files in this directory, skipping local extras search: Z:\MOVIES\ACTION\10,000 BC

Could you please show a full listing of all files in this subfolder?

These are the files in the folder.

Rename the two “main” movie files to
10.000 BC (2008) - 1080p.mp4
10.000 BC (2008) - SD.mp4

Check for embedded wrong metadata (right click - Properties - Detail).
Then Plex Dance the whole folder and try again.

That seemed to work. Thank you. I guess I will have to go through all the movies to see if the extras are showing up.

It is very important to stick to the naming guides.
If Plex recognises two different movies within one folder, it disables local extras.

This seems to be happening on all of the movie folders that have more than one movie file resolution. I guess I will have to add release year to all of those files… why did this change?

Technically it didn’t chenge. It has always been like this.
But, previously there was a safety net which helped when the user didn’t have it 100% right. This safety net was Google and they lately retracted a crucial API. So currently we must make do without the safety net.
