My managed user can no longer access the default Home Videos library which is shared to it. Tested on a non managed user account and no problem.
Created a new Managed user and the same thing.
Anyone please respond if they see this behaviour or don’t see this behaviour.
After creating the new user, the Home Videos library started working about 5 mins later. Tagging of photos to the Favorites playlist also started working - referenced in another issue here (Favorites Photo Playlist for Managed User broken).
Will delete the existing managed user account of 5 years and recreate a new one to get the library and photo playlists working again.
I take it back. I have done a database repair to see if it would improve anything, created a new managed user and left the existing managed user in place to get the Home Videos working again, but nothing has appeared in that library and it’s been 30 mins. All other libraries for the user pretty much came online when i logged in.
Anyone have any idea what’s happening here? Thanks
Does the managed user have an age rating restriction assigned to it?
If yes, you need to make sure that the content in this library has an age rating which allows the user to see it.
Hi. These are home videos so not scraped with ratings. The newly created managed user doesn’t have any restrictions anyway. Very strange as this was working fine. Am now at the point of deciding to completely delete the Library and re-create it to see if that helps
As of this morning, i can see that the contents for the Home Videos library has now actually populated for the newly created Managed user, but the existing Managed user still shows the library as having no content.
Have been troubleshooting this for a while and have determined what’s happening, but unclear why. As suggested by the moderator, perhaps the age rating restriction for the managed user was at play. Due to the delay its taken for the home videos to appear in the newly created test user account, it wasn’t evident until now that all the video files in the custom Home Videos library are being considered not suitable for the Teen restriction profile. No videos have a rating, and it appears this means they’re being blocked! I manually changed one of the home videos to be a PG-13 and it appeared in the library for the restricted user!
This doesn’t sound like it’s a sensible default option. I can understand movies being rated above PG-13 as being restricted, but why restrict movies which don’t have a rating?
Please can someone confirm this is the case and let me know how to fix this. Thanks
This is not the case. A better answer would be to configure a custom restricted profile to allow this content as the content in question is marked as ‘unrated’.
