Hi - I’m a long time user of Plex.
I noticed last month that some of my media was not been detected by PMS on my Synology PMS on my NAS drive. I tried all the normal stuff and even renamed my whole collection using filebot.
When I installed PMS on my Mac mini - all the missing content was found.
All my files are stored on my Synology NAS in a simple folder structure -
Root / Media / TV Shows
Root / Media / Films
So both the Mac Mini PMS and Synology PMS are searching the same locations.
I deleted the entire Synology PMS, which deletes the volume so when I reinstalled it there should be no traces of the old PMS? I did a fresh install and the same files are still not detected.
I hope this is just a bug on the current PMS for Synology.
This is a screen recording of my files and PMS Connecting...
Your screen recording takes 20+ minutes to download.
Without waiting the 20+ minutes:
Check File Permissions.
Make sure the system internal user PlexMediaServer has at least read access to the files.
See FAQ 30 - DSM 7 - Give PlexMediaServer access to your media
Run the procedure even if permissions look OK.
Important: Be sure to select the box to “Appy to this folder, sub-folders and files.”
Please show how you have the files named and organized - screenshot, directory listing, etc.
Include the full path to the files and the file extension.
Please provide log files.
Configure for debug level logs: Settings → Server_Name → General + Show Advanced. Enable debug. Do not enable verbose.
Stop Plex Media Server.
Start Plex Media Server.
Wait two minutes (for logs to capture startup sequence)
Pull log files (settings → troubleshooting) and attach the zip file to the thread.
It was the File Permissions. Although, permissions was already granted, unchecking them, applying and then rechecking them and applying seems to have solved the issue. Thank you again. So happy to have my PMS back on my NAS again!
