Please advise how I get Plex to update the metadata for an episode when I have changed the filename. The information being displayed is incorrect.
Neither your file name, nor your episode number is matching the episode information of Paw Patrol s09e16 that appears on TheMovieDB.org PAW Patrol: Season 9 (2022) — The Movie Database (TMDB)
- Which data source are you using?
- And which metadata agent has been selected for this library?
- If it is “Plex TV Series”, which “episode ordering” has been selected (just below on the same tab)?
I’ve tried TheMovieDB.org and TVDB but neither is correct.
How do I confirm the metaagent being used?
Yes it is Plex TV Series, episode ordering is set to TheTVDB.
You look at the Plex media info XML of one episode.
Look the the contents of the guid="... ( ← all lower-case!) property.

The latter was the correct one. It confirms that “Plex TV Series” is used.
And if you have set it to use TheTVDB ordering, then you get “Pups Save a Sliding Chalet” as s09e16:

The episode is All Paws on Deck but if I change the episode number to match what is set in the TVDB, I still get the incorrect information
You’ll have to perform either the Plex Dance or at least “Refresh Metadata” on the whole show.
If I set the episode to be the correct for TVDB, can I confirm this with the meta information?
Performed the Plex Dance but still had the same error.
If I change the episode number to S09E40, it matches what is in TheTVDB but if I change it to S09E27 it changes to Pups Save the Reef which doesn’t match TheTVDB
It looks like all of this is still in flux. Apparently just recently there were changes made on TheMovieDB which link various episodes to their counterparts on TheTVDB.

S09 of this show is a bit of a mess over at TMDB with incorrect external tvdb ids linking episodes all over the place. I have fixed these up in an effort to help the situation so lets give it 48/72 hours and then force refresh the metadata on your side to see if it helps.
