Missing guide data

I complained to Plex via email and they asked me to email link to this thread. Hopefully someone will ping in soon.

Hello all. I was notified of this issue. I went ahead and checked with our team and this may be a bug in the Plex Web client. We are investigating. Can anyone else confirm that the guide looks correct on other clients and it’s only Web that is showing the missing data?

ATV client doesn’t seem to have the option of showing only HD channels, so I can’t confirm that.

However, the bigger issue is that since HD channels are not showing and if the recording is set to HD only or there are changes to predetermined schedules, those programmes won’t be recorded.

The displaying HD channels issue is a small issue vs recordings failing due to EPG not showing the data.

All fine on android and ios as most clients dont have filters the guide shows fine.
The back end bug is that if you choose to record a programme specifically on an HD channel and specify HD recording only it doesnt record as the programmes arent reporting as in HD despite being on an HD channel

The reason there are no airings shown when you select HD Only in the dropdown in the guide is that I dont think the programmes themselves are being listed as HD despite the channel being an HD channel. this effectively means that the channels show as they are HD channels but there is no HD content on them so it says Unknown Airing. The raw guide will need to be looked at and perhaps checked with Gracenote to see if they are tagging all programmes on HD channels as being HD

I do notice on IOS that when I go to the dvr schedule and tap on an upcoming show to be recorded it says -“Video SD” even though it is on an HD channel.

For me IOS and the new HTPC for windows client are the only ones not affected.
Pmp, web and plex for windows all are affected and pmp shows the same 480p resolution for both SD and HD channels.
I haven’t tried any of the embedded players like the smart TVs or media devices like Xbox or Roku.

I have just updated to the latest version ( Version 1.22.2.4256) and the issue is still there with the guide. Is it an issue with the data provided from gracenote and how Plex interprets it? Cant believe Gracenote arent tagging any HD programmes, just the channels but Plex is certainly not showing an HD tags at all for programmes, just channels

Looks like the last update removed the ‘Primetime’ option from EPG. It was very handy, just the right timeframe to quickly get to most recorded shows. Now I have to click 4 extra times to get to the right timeframe.

Also would be nice to be able to select the day from the top and staying in the same timeframe rather being having to go and click three times.

Just updated to PMS 1.22.2.4262 on Qnap.

The bug remains.

The Guide was fine until I upgraded to Version 1.22.1.4228 on a Synology server. The guide did not update when the server was updated but this issue showed up. if you view HD only in the guide the channels said Unknown Airing. View all channels they showed up. All of my recordings are set to HD preferred so they do continue to record in HD. Android app guide does not let you select HD channels. I believe it is a issue with the update and not the guide itself.

is the plex guide stored locally in an XML file that we can search?

Another version update out today. Just installing it to see if it makes a difference

Still no joy with the latest update either. 1.22.2.4264 doesnt fix it :frowning:

@anon18523487 how we getting on with sorting this?

As previously mentioned, this may be a bug with the Plex Web client, not PMS. I do not have any updates yet.

I have noticed on fire stick 4k when I go to “Browse” it is missing the hd channels. In the picture there should be channels 16.1 and 22.1 but they are missing. As mentioned in one of my previous posts when I am in the IOS app and go to the “DVR Schedule” under Live TV & DVR it shows the upcoming shows are in SD even though they are recording in HD

The fixes that have been pushed dont work.

the HD only Guide filter shows programming content in the HD channels, but it also shows loads of SD channels as well.
I have tested if the programmes on the HD channels are actually being reported as HD to plex and they are not. This was tested by scheduling a recording of a programme on Sky Sports F1 HD and setting the require HD only flag in the recording. The recording started at the correct time but immediately failed with a Transcoder Error. I then modified the recording to Prefer HD and saved it and the programme is now recording fine. As you will be able to see from the screenshot it is recording the programme i asked it to record, on the channel i asked it to record from and it says its HD but clearly Plex doesnt think it is HD as if HD is set to required it fails.
