Missing Shows

I created a new library titled “Anime”, I also created a new folder Anime in the same top level folder as all my other media folders that feed PLEX. I moved two shows that had originally been in my TV folder to the Anime folder but they will not show up in PLEX. I see the logs and it seems it can scan the files but just doesn’t pull them in.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Could be a permissions issue… Does the plex user have read(/write) access to the Anime library folder?

I’m embarrassed but I don’t know how to check.

This is sitting on my QNAP NAS. Can you advise?

Thank you

Not familiar with the QNAP user interface but I found this article on their help section:

If I may augment?

On QNAP, PMS runs as the admin user. All file permissions are ignored because it’s the admin (root) user.

Anime is very tough to match because there usually are no listings for it on TVDB or IMDB.
There are Anime-specific plug-ins (scanner enhancements) and other threads in the forum about how best to get Anime to match.

I’m sorry I can’t be more help than that.

I cannot confirm that.
All Anime I have added so far to my server are listed at TheTVDB.
You’ll have to research a bit about the anime you’re going to add. Particularly if it has alternative titles and whether the series is actually a later season of a previously released Anime.
And you’ll have to adhere to the regular naming guide for TV shows:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220687-naming-series-season-based-tv-shows/

I appreciate everyone’s feedback.

The two shows specifically are Attack on Titans and Mob Psycho 100. They both showed up when I had them in my TV Shows directory.

Before:
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Multimedia/TV Shows - Worked fine.

After:
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Multimedia/Anime - Won’t pull them in.

After scanning the folder and I check the logs PLEX can definitely see the files, it just isn’t pulling them in. That I cannot figure out why.

See Q14

Hmm. I can try creating a new share for PLEX and see if that works however, it’s been working. I just created a new directory. Radarr downloaded a new movie yesterday and just like normal it downloaded, extracted, and ended up where it needed to be then showed up in PLEX. Perfection.

Not sure why this new folder isn’t working properly.

Tried creating a whole new share for PLEX and it still didn’t pull in the files…

So I’m at a lost at this point.

Show your file names and folder hierarchy.

/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/PLEX/Anime

Attach on Titan
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/PLEX/Anime/Attack on Titan/SE03
Example: Attack on Titan S03E01 Smoke Signal.mkv

Mob Psycho 100
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/PLEX/Anime/Mob Psycho 100/SE01
Example: Mob Psycho 100 S01E01 Self-Proclaimed Psychic- Reigen Arataka ~And Mob~.mkv

Plex server is running on the QNAP

Thank you

Season 01, not SE01

In the properties of your anime library, on the ‘Add Folders’ tab, it must have the full path
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/PLEX/Anime

and not just /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/PLEX
nor /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/PLEX/Anime/Attack on Titan

Are you aware of the Plex Dance? Perform it.

That didn’t seem to work or maybe it did.

I ended up deleting the entire library and re-adding it after performing the Plex Dance. I had not tried this before but now I’m seeing the shows in plex.

“Nor” means you must not do it this way.
