Move plex application folder

I’d like to move the Plex application on my Synology DS918+ to my USB drive in order to allow spin down of my HDDs.
In this forum I often find the reference to the FAQ page:

See Q27 (bottom of page) on the Synology FAQ’s page in order to move the Plex folder correctly, link in my signature.

Sadly this page is not available anymore. Any idea where to find this info?

It’s not a solution to your problem, but @ChuckPa is rebuilding the Synology FAQ. Hopefully the answer to this question will be included there soon:

Very simple answer here:

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Rename the existing Plex share to “Plex-Old”
  3. Create a new “Plex” share where you want it
  4. Make user plex the owner of that share (in the share’s properties - File Station)
  5. COPY the contents in their entirety from old to new.
  6. Uninstall the package
  7. Reinstall the package (It searches for the Plex share and sets other permissions during installation)
  8. Take for a test drive

You know having the disks spin down will probably reduce their life.
