MP3 tags not recognized - audiobooks

Hi there

I’ve been struggling with mp3 tags in audio libraries - I’ve read a lot of posts about the ‘Plex Dance’, even performed that, with no luck.

I have seen numerous threads about a similar issue, but I have not been able to find a solution that works.

I am on server version 1.13.2.5154

Issue is, I have some audiobooks (essentially just albums), which are not displayed correctly in the library.
In one example, only artist and album is shown. How do I get the right tags shown in the library? They are not even carried over to the ios app, making it a hazzle trying to find the latest file if I use the app for something other than listening to one specific album.

Top left is the file/folder structure - files are named with artist - album - track
Top right is the tags used - I have title, artist, album, comment, date, genre, performer and tracknumber
Bottom is the view in plex - I see only album and artist

As mentioned, I have already tried using the ‘Plex Dance’ to no avail.
In my agents, I have local media assets checked and on top - on all audio agents (artists, albums)
I have tried moving files to a different folder, creating a new library on this, to no avail

Not showing the files correctly in Plex, makes it difficult to find the right chapter when I have had different activity in between sessions with the album.

Do you have ‘Use embedded metatags’ activated in the properties of your audiobook library? (‘Advanced’ tab)

Did you make sure to not create this library as a ‘Premium Music’ library?

Where does the Ex Falso in your screen shot come from? Is it a tag? or a folder name?

The main issue I assume is your ‘track title’ metatags all starting with a number. Plex tries to be ‘smart’ and removes them because, with music, the track number is normally not a part of the track title.
It’d probbaly work if the ‘track title’ contained instead ‘Oprindelse, Chapter 001’ or similar.

Hi there

Thanks for quick reply - I can see I forgot to add some details …

Yes - I have use embedded metatags checked
Yes - I have made sure not to create the library as a premium music library  - I have also tried with
The ExFalso image on top left contains filenames - Top right is the tags on the files… So the filename in the first file is: ‘Dan Brown - Oprindelse - 001 Oprindelse.mp3’

I haven’t considered your last point before posting - I’ll test this later…
Changing the filename as per your suggestion seems logical and might do the trick… I’ll revert

Thanks for now!

Hi again!

Changing the name of the tag as per your suggestion made the trick! - I can now see the number of the file playing, thereby making it a lot easier to resume if I play something else between 2 of these …

Thanks!
