I have a tv series and when I try to play about 90% of the specials, it plays S0E1. This just started happening. I didn’t change anything. The files are all named correctly and show up properly in the info tab, but they still play the wrong episode.
I tried moving the show, cleaning the library and emptying the trash, but when it rescrapes it it happens again. Anyone have any idea what the hell?

Please provide details on the naming you are using. Providing the XML for your files will also help.

This just started happening. Naming is automatic though mediaelch. Al was working fine until last week.

Just recreate the issue by playing a special and then grab the PMS logs. Providing the XML for the file you played will also help.
I am experiencing exactly the same problem. I’ve done all the normal troubleshooting steps but I can’t get the Specials (Jonny Quest - Season 00) to play the file in the folder. If I play S00E01, it plays S01E9 instead.
For episodes S00E02 to S00E04, file S01E1 plays for all 3 files. There are only 4 special episodes in the folder (correctly named and in order).
I’ve checked the “Get Info” and “XML Files” and everything points to the correct file (S00E01). Metadata and TVDB info is correct … just the wrong file plays.
I’ve wasted too much time today trying to fix this. I give up!!

Another report of a similar thing. TV Show's metadata and file paths are correct but different files are played using strange fall-through logic
I was able to reproduce and I’ve filed this as a bug with our team.

Notes say it’s fixed in the new beta, but I am still having the issue. Even after removing and re-adding the files.

Do we know if this is actually being worked on, or if Plex is just “aware of the problem”?
It is a server issue and there is a lot of server work going on. Hopefully, they can look at this soon.
I haven’t been able to play specials for months I really hope they do fix this. It’s kind of ridiculous that its been a glaring issue for a long time now.
