Naming BSG Mini-Series Files

I’ve got all my Battlestar Galactica episode files organized as follows:

videos/tv/Battlestar Galactica (2003)/Season 1

I’m having trouble with the two files from the mini-series. I’ve got them both named as follows:

videos/tv/Battlestar Galactica (2003)/Battlestar Galactica-S00E02-The Miniseries.mkv
videos/tv/Battlestar Galactica (2003)/Battlestar Galactica-S00E02-The Miniseries.mkv

However, I just can’t seem to get Plex to recognize them correctly

If the files are from season 1 you have them named incorrectly with S00.

The problem is that The Movie Database and TheTVDB have the show organized differently.

At TMDB, the miniseries is Battlestar Galactica (2003) and the TV show is Battlestar Galactica (2004).

At TheTVDB, the TV show is Battlestar Galactica (2003) and the miniseries are listed as Specials.

Basically, you have to pick which episode ordering to use.

You can choose episode ordering at the Library or Show level. Edit the Library/Show, choose Advanced, then pick the desired ordering. You’ll need to refresh metadata if you change episode ordering selection.

If you change naming and organization (rename/reorganize episodes), then Plex Dance the entire show. This will remove bad metadata from the Plex Media server database.

They are not from Season 1. They are from a mini series which ran before season 1. That is why they are called Battlestar Galactica - Mini Series.
