Main reason for getting Plex and Nvidia is to listen to my playlists thru my Onkyo app in various zones (Backyard, Bathroom).
Just installed Plex on Nvidia Shield and it was a painful process getting the device working. Had to install multiple times and now I have multiple local hosts.
Even though I have uninstalled at my end, all the extra local hosts, I still see them on the phone. Need help with two issues:
Can’t see my playlist thru Onkyo App![Plex main menu|690x1571]
How to get rid of extra localhosts on the phone? The TV console shows only two plex servers which is how it’s set up (NAS drive and Nvidia Shield on TV)
Basically I am trying to replace my WD TV Live Hub media player which went out of production a few years ago and is dying on me,
If getting a lifetime pass to Plex helps, I don’t mind as long as my goal is accomplished. Attaching screenshots to illustrate how it is with my old system and with Plex. Just want my playlists available, and I will die a happy man.
Any help to his desperate layperson will be appreciated. Merry Christmas.
look for the servers that have not been used most recently, click the X in the top right of each device you want to remove.
if you accidently remove the working server, you will need to go back to the local server ip and re-sign-in the server to your plex account (should not affect your libraries).
Thanks for your response, TJ.
I have done that and on my TV I see only two servers Shield, and Seagate NAS which also has a Plex server installed, so that’s good. Same on my computer; I see the two legit servers.
It’s only on my Onkyo app that I see the old servers (that I removed from my Android TV Shield settings.
Probably there’s a lag, but I removed the extra servers over a day ago and they still show up on the Onkyo app. Have deleted and reinstalled the app, and still I see the multiple servers.
It will be nice if the servers show up with the custom name that I did for Shield, and I can ignore the other localhost instead of guessing which one to click.
Any suggestions of having the playlist folder show up?
Wow, that’s a glaring limitation. I created a playlist and dropped it in the music folder and didn’t show up. Created a playlist in plex on my TV and it works great. I was hoping to have it on my receiver app.
Perhaps I can work around by creating a folder (playlist 1) inside my Music folder and drop all the playlist songs into that folder. Wonder if there’s a quick way to select all of the playlist content on Plex TV and copy/paste it to the new folder.
It’s a big let down but hopefully temporary.
B,
I tried to create a folder named ‘playlist’ and put a few songs to see if the folder shows up on my phone. Unfortunately, it did not show up on my phone or TV, just in the Shield drive on the computer.
My thinking is that all the songs that I add to my playlist on the Shield TV, must be in a (hidden) folder for the list to be compiled. How hard would it be for that folder to show up somewhere in the ‘Music’ directory. I mean, there are categories by year, by decade etc., which is useless to most.
I even queued the playlist on the TV, hoping it will show up in that category on the phone; but no.
There has to be a way to do it. This ain’t rocket science.
For now the only solution seems to be is to get a pairs of speakers for each zone with chromecast built in and cast the playlist from plex on the phone, but that gets to be an expensive way and too many speakers.
