Need help with displying movies and seasons correctly within a single series

In brief:

In long:
I’m trying to assemble the whole of the Psycho-Pass series into one folder for ease of viewing and keeping track of the order to watch all the content in. TVDB has this exact order present within their “DVD Ordering” tab, yet when all the appropriate files are put within properly named folders, even with the tvdb season tag, the series refuses to show up correctly within plex itself. I’ve tried the plex dance and all the other fixes a few hours of look-up and spitballing have shown me, but I’ve made no progress. Any ideas?

  • No mixing movies and tv shows in the same library.
  • TMDB/TVDB tag supported on show folder only, not the season folder.
  • Plex Dance the series if you rename/reorganize

Please show how you have the files named & organized.

If you wish to use the TVDB DVD sort order, keep in mind that Plex - by default - picks “TMDB Aired” sort order for TV Shows. If you wish to use TVDB (and specifically “TVDB DVD SORT” order, you must edit the show to use this. Click the Pencil icon on the show level for psych-pass, click on Advanced on the left-hand side of this menu, and click the drop-down box for Episode ordering. Change this box to TheTVDB (DVD), and Plex should automatically update itself, but if it doesn’t then do a refresh metadata.

This info is in the “Naming and organizing your TV Show Files” help article linked by FordGuy, but it’s easy to overlook it (it is the first entry in the “Table of Contents” on the right-hand side). At least for me, I was unaware that even if you pick TVDB to match, Plex still uses TMDB episode numbering anyway, that you have to specify the sort order separately.
