Hi all I need someone’s help I’ve recently brought a nas the terra master f2-221 and it’s brilliant with one problem I can’t connect the server securely it keeps saying indirect connection can I fix this can anyone help
Please help
Where do you experience this indirect connection?
If it happens inside your home network, there’s some glitch in your home network setup that makes Plex think it’s actually on a different network.
Generally, indirect connections imply that there’s a problem with your remote access setup. With remote access, there’s many players, so it could be a lot of different issues (ranging from your Plex config all the way to restrictions applied by your ISP).
When it comes to “connecting securely”, this is usually an entirely different story.
I’m just getting indirect connection from the beginning of my set up of my server
Are you running a VPN on the server? Are you accessing it via the local ip address aka 192.168.xx.xx?
No I just load up Plex on the web and it takes like 2,3 seconds comes up and says indirect connection in the settings sorry I really new to all this I don’t know if this helps but I also have a shield as a Plex server and that’s why I brought the nas to replace it would that be making problems for it ?
I’m also getting full playback at 1080p in my Wi-Fi but when on mobile data cause if it’s a phone I’m using it says not enough bandwitch and I have a very high internet speed
Check out the guide on how to troubleshoot remote access issues I’ve linked above.
With remote access the limiting bandwidth factor is your internet upload bandwidth – even with super fast download speeds, this can be much lower. In a setup with an indirect connection, the stream is relayed through a server of Plex and you’ll get 1 Mbps bandwidth (2 Mbps for Plex Pass members).
I slso get this when I go to the website

It works through reley
That’s what indirect means.
Did you find anything with the remote access troubleshooting?
Yer just that I’ve tried everything I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the server and still nothing and without a relay it wont even connect securely I really don’t know what to do
Reinstalling the server will do nothing about a bad remote access environment.
You’ll need to figure out which part of the remote access setup is broken – could be a bad router configuration or a limitation caused by your ISP.
The guide I had posted before contains a number of procedures you can do in order to pin down what’s wrong
Think it’s my router it dosent support ipv6 or whatever that is called and there’s no firewall settings that I can change
Can someone please help
Any findings from checking the remote access troubleshooting guide?
Otherwise this will be mere guessing.
No nothing
So… what did you find?
- do you get a publicly routable IPv4 address from your ISP?
- can you see/access your own router’s public IP address on the specified public port from your port forward while outside your home network (e.g. using a service like canyouseeme.org)?
I’m sorry, there’s no secret “fix it” button. Remote access can be tricky because there’s so many parties involved. You’ll need to walk this bridge if you want to fix it.
I’m sorry forgetting upset it’s just I just brought this nas and seems like it’s bugged already
I can see my public ip and a port that is working but I have no idea how to port forward and also I tried the guide but I think I’m to stupid to understand it
