New Mobile app breaks Live TV

Tuning in to live TV during a recording still does not work. It goes to the beginning and will not let you go live.

2025.23.0 Here Live TV and audio works if I am usinf cellular data, If I am connected to my local network it does not work. Windows and Amazon Stick works fine in my local network. Dont know what is the deal if I am connected local vs cellular with my phone, when my other devices works just fine connected to my local network

I’m getting ā€œbad urlā€ when watching channels hosted by Plex themselves. I have no issues with my hdhomerun when watching at home. On the other hand, when I’m on mobile I don’t get any sound from hdhomerun sources.

App crashes/soft locks onto the Uh-Oh splash screen when loading the Live TV guide. It will spin for a minute and then soft-lock. I found I can work around this by favoriting the channels I tend to watch on the go and quickly switching to my favorites before it gets a chance to finish loading the TV guide. Streaming my channels work fine.

Same, on IOS if I’m connected outside the house it works, if I’m in local it says wrong hostname, quite weird because all the other platforms are working.

It is now near the end of august and the iOS app is still refusing to work decently with live TV. Last update is no better. I get only a few hours of guide and it takes forever to play any channel. I use the web version without any problem so the server or the network is not the problem. Anybody from PLEX is looking onto this, how can we get their attention!

You have hit the nail on the head. We (customers) all know that the iOS app is broken, and I am sure that Plex people know this too. They continue to make available regular app updates but they never communicate what they are doing to acknowledge or to resolve the major problems we are experiencing. It is really not a good or a fair way for Plex to treat their customers. I am not sure what we can do.

Plex engineers. This has been happening for almost a year now. Is this being worked on.

iOS 18.7.1 (Plex 2025.28.0)
iOS 26.0.1 (Plex 2025.28.0)
Plex 1.42.2.10156
10th Gen Intel i3 with Intel Quick Sync
OS Ubuntu 24.04.03 server (dedicated server only running Plex)
Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD
No virtualization / No containers

Live TV is working fine on our iPhones. It was buggy when the rollout was new. But, we’ve always been able to use Live TV.
This post might have some relevant info.

Record something wait 10 minutes and then try to go to live TV with the iOS app. I’ll never go to live TV.

Plex was scheduled to start recording The Road on CBS at 9:00pm, about 12 minutes ago. It’s recording. I open up app on iPhone, Live TV, tap on The Road. It starts right up at the beginning - 9:00pm. I’m watching it now, but CBS is behind schedule. It’s still airing 60 minutes. I can advance forward in 30 second intervals or back up in 10 second intervals. I can slide it forward all the way and it is current live stream. Works fine. Actually, it seems to be working better than the old version and the current AppleTV version.

Today, Nov 11, 2025. LiveTV will not work in iOS or the iPadOS plex clients unless you enable Plex’s LiveTV in Online Media Sources on the server side. i had to set mine to ā€œDisabled for managed accountsā€ and LiveTV in both iOS and iPadOS plex client finally loaded.

Not ideal but at least works, i set to disabled for managed so my other users won’t get confused w/plex’s content vs the my servers.

Plex, PLEASE FIX

They just updated the app and they saw them and fixed the issue where if someone’s watching live TV and you go to tune into it it does not go to live TV and or if you’re recording a program it does not allow you to go to live TV. Why is this being ignored?
