New Movie Libary Metadata Not working

So I moved copies of the kids movies into its own movie library. The metadata is working fine in my main movie library even when I add new movies. All the movies I copied to the new library lost their metadata when I pasted them into the new kids movie library. When I “Refresh Metadata” the metadata does not load.

Just so you know, the better way to do this is to limit the kids by rating than by a separate library.

However, if you’re simply not interested in seeing the kids/family movies in your main move library then this makes sense.

So, the only thing you need to make this happen typically is the correct filenaming system.
/kids movies folder/Movie Title (year)/Movie Title (year).ext

For instance:
D:/Kids Movies/Aladdin (1992)/Aladdin (1992).mkv

This is the way all your “Movie” Libraries should be structured for Plex Agents to pick everything up correctly. You can use a tool like filebot to create your structure for you en mass. Once this is accomplished, you may have to do the Plex Dance

Currently my main library is structured as c:/movies/xxxxxx.mkv for each movie and the kids is c:/kids movies/ xxxxx.mkv . So you are saying each movie needs to be in its own folder in order for the kids movies to pick up their metadata.

That’s the preferred method, yes, but you can get away without individual folders, provided the filename is movie name (year).mkv
