New PC for Plex server - No server options at all after installing Plex Server

I have a new PC. I moved my media over to it, it’s going to be my new server for Plex. Great. I’m sure it’s super easy to just login and add my media to Plex. NOPE! Not at all.

Literally none of the options shown in these articles on the site are helpful. It’s telling me to click all of these options that do not exist on my screen. “Click Add Library”… Huh? where? Make sure you have the plex server checked in setting… Huh? That literally does not exist. I have about 6 links in my sidebar when I login to Plex. Everytime I click “Your Media” it says “download plex server” which I have done 3 times and isn’t that what I am currently in?!

Why is this so difficult? Can I not just login on my new computer to my plex account and set this up as a server? Why am I missing so many options in my menu? Why does it tell me to download the plex server after having done so 3x?

I even tried creating a new email to use for a new account and just set it up that way… Same result. For the record, I do not care about the old server and won’t use it anymore so that is still an option if it avoids this needless hassle.

Any help is appreciated.

I take it you have opened http://app.plex.tv/desktop and not the address of the locally installed Plex Web to claim the server and complete the installation wizard?

If you’re working on the same machine where your PMS is installed… use http://127.0.0.1:32400/web or http://localhost:32400/web to access the server. This should give you an option to claim it (link it to your Plex account) and create your libraries etc. (there should even be a wizard to walk you through the first installation).

If you simply access Plex Web without your server being linked to your account… what you show is pretty much all you’ll get.

I just double checked the related support articles. I’m sorry to say they’re quite clear on that (no offense). Where exactly did you take the instructions from when you setup your server?
