New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

Thanks @sa2000 - please find attached a spreadsheet with the expected and Plex channels: Freesat-mapping-for-Plex.xlsx.zip (71.1 KB)

I should be able to see those channels highlighted in green, The last column shows the Plex channels and I’ve indicated whether they are:

  • correct, i.e. highlighted in green
  • n/a
  • missing, in red font
  • wrong, i.e. stating the wrong name shown in Plex, in red font

I have done the matching for the main BBC channels; I will go through the rest but these are of immediate concern to me.

BTW, I’ve used https://www.tvchannellists.com/Master_list_of_digital_television_channels_(UK_and_Ireland) as a reference since the official Freesat website doesn’t give you any real detail about their channel lineup (https://www.freesat.co.uk/whats/full-channel-list/).

Although looking at the detail, you can’t see the geographic variations, i.e. it’s less useful for the purpose of channel mapping.

I created a new DVR this morning and the channel mappings looked perfect for Scotland Central OTA.

However, the DVR hung on creation, so I’ve no idea if the actual program data is any good

For me the biggest issue is the complete lack of the ‘New’ tag on some channels, and the inaccuracy of the ‘New’ tag (some shows tagged, some not) on others.

Plus for example tonight, wanted to record The Gadget Show on Channel 5 HD. Kept wanting to record on C5+1, so set to ‘HD Only’ and only record on C5 HD in the record settings, and STILL wants to record on C5+1…

Starting to regret the whole switch to Plex now…

I have the exact same issue. Was hoping to record the Crystal Maze tonight on C4HD but instead it first recorded on C4 and then recorded it again on C4+1 for some reason. Had no issues with this before the new Guide update.

19 Dave has no ‘New’ tags, 5/105 Channel 5 inconsistent tags, 2/102 BBC Two Gardners’ World tonight is new but has no ‘New’ tag tonight - to name a few!

I’m having the same problem.
Channel 4 should be S4C, the Welsh language channel, the schedule is C4 which is English. So no recording of any Welsh language programs - a highly emotive issue here.

101 should be BBC 1 Wales, the schedule is BBC1 Northern Island
102 should be BBC2 Wales, the schedule is BBC2 Northern Island

I’ve deleted and recreated the DVR but nothing has changed since I “upgraded” to this latest version. Basically, it remains largely unusable and I’m losing the opportunity to watch significant programmes.

By switching to Freeview Wales OTA (shouldn’t my Postcode have done this?) I’ve got the S4C listings back but 102 is still BBC2 Northern Ireland, many thumbnails are missing and there are still block entries for each channel.

Just saw your submitted feedback form. S4C is correct for the “Freeview Wales OTA Broadcast” as you have mentioned in you have mentioned in your subsequent post
Unfortunately the automatic selection of a lineup is picking an iptv one instead of the OTA one - one needs to override that and select the freeview one

The issue with BBC2 NI has been reported by others for other region. I will follow it up

Is anything done about the Freesat mappings? Just checking as I haven’t had any response to my recent posts …

Damn wish I looked on here before deleting my DVR as now I can’t get my scheduled recordings to show up using the new guide channel lineups.

Tried removing the DVR and using several different lineups (its just standard Freeview OTA West Midlands, shouldn’t be a hard one to match) but now a couple of scheduled recordings are trying to record every listing (comes up as new when its a repeat) and all the others just show no upcoming airings (including top gear on BBC2HD, even when I delete the recording and set it again).

Why doesn’t Plex test anything properly before unleashing misery on us all, any fix for this or are we just waiting for the lineups to be fixed?

I noticed the above and have tried a number of guide sources for UK Granada region. The BT Youview IP source seemed to work last night. After updating the app on Android just now that the grid guide has now been removed. Anyone else noticing this ???

Looking at the BBC One NW just now I have noticed that the 18:30 News programme is showing as London unfortunately. It should show Northwest Tonight. Back to the drawing board…

Do you get similar for ITV News at 18:00

Granada is one of the bigger ITV reasons so not sure if it’s correct, I am in Tyne Tees region and get ITV London in the EPG

I am getting Granada Reports which is correct. I have also changed guide to the Talktalk Youview NW option. BBC 1 NW still showing London news at 18:30 though.

Puzzled, The issue with Top Gear is it is not being identified as new. Had the issue with Top Gear and other programmes.

The only solution I have found so far is to set the recording to New and Repeated which is a pain as now it records all other episodes like those on Dave, but at least it gets recorded ( or resort to BBC iPlayer!!! )

Hopefully they will get this sorted sharpish.
