New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

There is a two-part series starting in the UK on Sunday night called ‘Ant & Dec’s DNA Journey’. The first episode airs on ITV at 21:00 on Sunday night with the second episode airing a day later on Monday at the same time. Both episodes are marked as ‘New’ but both also currently have exactly the same label - ‘10/11/19 - Episode 1’.

Please can this be referred to the provider for correction as there is no way that the second/Monday episode will record as things stand. Thanks in advance.

The 11th November airing on BBC1 for this was corrected today -episode number now 5 and New indicator set

This is fixed now for November 12 airings
The airings for 19 November - still to be done

Apparently the data that our provider is getting from channel 4 has the episodes merged and would need manual intervention to separate

thanks.

…I’m not bothered of they are merged as long as they are identified correctly.

FYI descriptions for Neighbours on C5HD seem to have reverted to being per episode (for a while it was a generic description from the 1980s!) but seem to be one day ahead of the actual episode, which is quite confusing!

On BBC 2 and BBC 2 HD on Thursday and Friday evenings at 22:00 and 23:15 respectively are shows both with the title “Later live… with Jools Holland” in the Plex guide. They are not the same show with the Thursday show being live for half an hour and the Friday show being a recording lasting one hour. In the weeks since the guide source was changed both shows recorded with “New and repeat airings” set. This week only the Thursday show is scheduled with the same rules. Can the guide be corrected please? Confusingly the Freeview guide at freeview.co.uk shows both as “Later… with Jools Holland”. In previous years the Thursday show was titled “Later live… with Jools Holland” and the Friday show was titled “Later… with Jools Holland”. The way is was in previous years was better in my opinion.

Appears to be an error for the 15 November 23:10 airing where it is giving same episode identifier as the 14 November airing. It is correct for the week after

I have referred this to our provider

I can’t see the problem. We have episode synopsis for Monday to Thursday with latest EPG data (if you referesh now) and the data agrees with what I see on the channel 5 TV Guide. Is the guide wrong?

I even went back to snapshots of the EPG I have from the 8th November and 9th November and these too correspond to the above and the Friday 8th November airing text also in line with what I can see here No access outside UK

I have now referred this to our provider - but too late to get it right for today

Update:

Repeat on Sat 2019-Nov-16 23:35 does identify Episode 2

Thanks, I’ll have another look tomorrow but certainly noticed the ones last week seemed out of sync with the actual content however I’ll see if I can tie it up with the official synopsis too.

How are you able to use the proprietory v6 Virgin Media Cable box with Plex ?
I was not aware that you can you use Virgin Media as cable channels provider with Plex Media Server

From the form, I see that you are using lineup “Virgin Media Scotland (Central) Digital” - how ?

There is going to be a change to how sports and news are handled for recordings - such that we will no longer attempt to look up for a match with the tvdb for these at the end of recordings. I am expecting for this to get released in future 1.18.2 beta update or 1.18.3 beta - it will be going through alpha testing soon

With regards to “Celebrity Catchphrase”, I tried a dummy test recording by advancing the PC time and it did not change the name at the end of recording.

Could you get me screenshot, media info xml and Plex Media Server logs captured soon after the recording gets matched incorrectly - for the next recording

I have referred this to our provider. Episode numbers appear to be out by 2 now

I would need server logs after such a recording. I checked the duration in the EPG data for all airings of “The Bill” on Drama UK and they are all one hour duration. I also checked 5th November and 6th November snapshots of the EPG

Thanks - have now checked and something still doesn’t seem to be right. The episode numbers and description match the guide as you say, but the episode I’ve got as airing on 8th Nov says 8230 (same description on Plex and 5 TV Guide), however the actual recording is for the day before. Looking at the Schedule List on Plex it has no files associated with Friday’s episode (and I haven’t deleted anything), but when I click on the 7th Nov one (see it says aired 8th Nov with the description for that day - however the file that plays fits the 7th Nov.

I have referred this to our provider. Sometimes channels provide only series data with no episode identification.

If you check the filesystem for the last modified date and time of this file
“Neighbours (1986) - 2018-11-08 12 00 00 - Neighbours.ts” was it written on the 7th November or 8th November ? According to the EPG and the channel TV schedule, the airing was at 13:45 on the 8th November on channel 5 with a repeat at 17:30. There are also airings on channel 30 - 5 Star

Could you also get me the media info xml for it - see
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201998867-investigate-media-information-and-formats/

If the problem is repeatable with future recordings, then getting the logs after completing the recording and results of viewing the recording could help track down the issue

Thanks. I have looked into what is available on the internet for setup of this box for Virgin

Is this legal ? and are subscriptions authenticated and validated by Virgin Media ?

So it still seems to be doing the multiple copies thing noted previously, but you’ll see the 2019-11-08 file was recorded on 7th Nov, which definitely fits with the content itself. XML attached.

Further to my earlier reply, as mentioned this could not be corrected in time for the first airings. It is now correct for the repeats and we have episode 1 at 23:10 on 15 November and episode 2 on the 16th at 23:35. Recording new and repeats would pick these up.
